HORSE AND RIDER BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Wilkins Toy Co. This toy is model # 820 in their catalog, depicting a black enamel silhouetted horse and rider galloping along. The figure is mounted on an A Frame with the bell attached underneath. Star wheels add the final touch to this early bell toy. SIZE: 6 1/2”. As per the Gong Bell catalog, this is “An up-to-date toy for the great Association of Buffaloes and all other people”. This was Bob’s favorite bell toy from his extensive toy collection. SIZE: 6”. PATRIOTIC BELL TOY WITH WHEELED CHIME BELL TOY & CENTENNIAL BELL TOY. Of unknown manufacture. (1) This patriotic bell toy with American Flag protruding from base has two heart-shaped wheels and a wheel in the center surrounded by bells. A polished iron finish. SIZE: 5”. CONDITION: Overall the condition is very good. (2) A simple two wheeled bell toy with dual bells in center. Activated by pulling the toy along on the floor, the chimes have a fine musical tone to them. SIZE: 4 3/4” diam. (3) Of unknown manufacture, this toy has two fancily cast wheels of iron joined together by a cardboard cylinder. Paper label on cylinder is emblazoned with eagles with shields and “CENTENNIAL”. PIG WITH CLOWN RIDER BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. Multicolored cast iron toy with a clown riding atop a pig. “DARKEY AND ALLIGATOR” BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co., both Darkey and the Alligator are affixed atop a simulated log base. “MARY AND HER LITTLE LAMB” BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. When pulled along the floor, both Mary and her little lamb swivel, thus activating the bell that is hung between them. “MISS LIBERTY” BELL TOY. Manufactured by Kyser & Rex. Another exemplary bell toy from this company, this features a polychromed MISS LIBERTY standing in a green shell/leaf chariot. When the toy is pulled along the floor, the bell in front of MISS LIBERTY is struck while her right arm raises and lowers her American Flag. MISS LIBERTY wears a white and blue gown with red cape and gold highlighting, while resting her left hand upon a sheaf of wheat. The red heart shaped wheels have gold pin striping. This toy, one of Bob and Jackie’s favorites, was prominently displayed as a centerpiece among their most beloved toys. Provenance Bernard Barenholtz, this toy appeared on the Today Show when a feature was presented on antique toys. SIZE: 8”. THREE PIECE TRAIN SET W/ TWO ADDITIONAL ENGINES. 1) This Kenton set consists of a combined engine & tender and two passenger cars. KENTON CAMEL-BACK TRAIN SET. A near mint example of a true workhorse of an engine, the famed “600 Camelback Locomotive” which Kenton copied into toy form. The set consists of engine, tender and a gondola. The “real McCoy” was the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railroad. Kenton produced this toy train in the mid 1920’s. SIZE: 23″ l (overall). WELKER & CROSBY FREIGHT TRAIN. A rarity that one would search long and hard for! Elegant and sophisticated are two words that one could use to describe this train. The boiler consists of two wood pieces attached with the engine cab being a fine delicate iron casting. A circular strap of iron attached to the wood boiler consists of a headlamp, smoke stack and steam chests. There is a pivoting front truck consisting of the cow catcher and front wheels. Other various pieces of iron trim are connected to the wood boiler. Within the open engine cab, one sees the polychromed conductor pulling back on the lever, ready to engage the locomotive into action. The tender marked, “W. & C.R.R.” (Welker & Crosby Railroad?), consists of two iron sides mounted to a wood chassis. The two gondolas, with fancy cast sides are also of the same construction. SCARCE WILKINS HORSEDRAWN STREET SWEEPER. A toy that was elusive to Bob & Jackie for many years until this one became available at the infamous Hegarty auction. A delicate casting encasing a circular brush. When pulled along floor it simulates the real life actions of an 1890’s street sweeper. Enameled in black with red yoke and wheels, the driver sits atop taking command of his horse. The rear of the sweeper is marked “D.P.W.” (Department of Public Works). SIZE: 12 1/2″. HANSOM CAB BY IVES. Black enameled cab with an elegant external seat for the driver, although this version of the toy has no hole for the driver to sit. Red painted spoke wheels follow a brown painted horse with gold trappings with single wheel attached to front hoof to allow for easier movement. It is difficult to imagine that such a graceful toy was made with no accommodations for passengers or driver. SIZE: 13”. CONDITION: Overall condition excellent with some wear. IVES VICTOR WALKING HORSE WAGON. A red cart with the word “VICTOR” stenciled on either side has blue interior, yellow spoke wheels, and is being pulled by a black enameled horse with yellow trappings. Horse’s feet move when the wheels turn in a very realistic manner. This toy is charmingly whimsical and could hold appeal for boys and girls alike. SIZE: 9 1/2”. COMICAL COP IN MULE CART. Pictured in Jones & Bixler 1908 catalog, item #98. An elusive toy featuring a bucking mule pulling a cart containing a Keystone Cop. RARE DENT “PARCEL EXPRESS” PANEL TRUCK. A truly wonderful toy, manufactured by Dent Hardware Company of Fullerton, PA during the 1930’s. Only a handful of original models of this toy exist! This truck is painted in robin’s egg blue with a black roof and red and gold highlighting. Truck features nickel-plated iron wheels and a spare tire is side-mounted on the driver’s side. SIZE: 8”. EXTREMELY RARE “WHITE” BUS. This rare toy, made by Arcade manufacturing (label intact on driver’s side), has robins’ egg blue paint, white pinstriping and white rubber tires mounted on iron hubs. HUBLEY HILL CLIMBER MOTORCYCLE. Brightly enameled olive green cycle carrying rider with pivoting head, black helmet, flesh tone face and hands, #2 on back, separately cast cylinder and gas tank in black and gold, and nickel-plated wheels. Hubley owned the exclusive rights to the Hill Climber motorcycle. SIZE: 6 3/4”. CONDITION: Cycle is virtually mint, only noticeable wear on rider’s face and hands. MC 1-4312 (800-1,000)

DOUBLE RIPPER SLED BELL TOY. Manufactured by N. N. Hill Brass Co., this is another great example of the company’s ingenuity and great design! A charming toy depicting four children riding on a ripper sled down a hill, the front youth stretched out with a black child riding behind him holding his legs, a young girl and a happy male child riding behind. As stated in the Gong Bell catalog, “The figures represent Cossack and Jap cavalrymen engaged in a fierce contest, very life-like in action. “UNCLE SAM AND THE DON” BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. As quoted from The Gong Bell catalog, “Uncle Sam and The Don engage in a lively set-to. During the encounter America asserts her superiority over Spain by Uncle Sam getting in some telling thrusts on the Spaniard’s head, finally delivering the ‘solar plexus’ blow that knocks him out. The platform is ornamented with the American flag, head of an eagle, and stars. Patriotic colors. MONKEY SULKY BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. An earlier Gong Bell toy with a combination of American painted tin and cast iron. This toy depicts a dressed tin monkey sulky being pulled by a painted tin horse on an elaborate enameled blue cast iron base. SIZE: 7”. MALE AND FEMALE SEE-SAW BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. Referred to as “The Bell Ringers,” this toy features a gentleman and lady on a see-saw with an attached bell that when pulled in a forward motion rocks, thus causing the bell to ring. “THE TWO COONS” BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. A comical toy depicting a black child and a raccoon both entering a hallowed log. LARGEST SIZE HUBLEY AIRFLOW W/ELECTRIC LIGHTS. An almost exact copy of the famed Chrysler Airflow, Hubley went to great pains in producing this toy. Painted in an attractive gunmetal gray finish with nickeled windshield, rear bumper and front grill and bumper. A battery encased within the engine compartment would give the child the opportunity to flip a switch under the car to turn the headlights on! 2 HUBLEY AIRFLOWS. An amazing pair of near mint Hubley airflows. Once again this company copies and translates real life vehicles into toys. The nickel-plated frames are attached to the chassis of the car by means of ingenious methods…by putting the rubber tire on iron hub (which is attached to frame). RARE HUBLEY MACK TANK TRUCK. Seldom-found Mack tanker with a nickel-plated removable driver and original pull cord attached. HUBLEY ELGIN STREET SWEEPER. A classic toy, one could imagine following this toy down the streets in the late 1930’s. The man sitting atop his street sweeper cleaning up the daily debris! ARCADE WHITE “USCO” MOVING VAN. One of Arcade’s most lifelike toys, a perfect copy of the real life moving van. This particular example was with the original owner for over 50 years! ARCADE WHITE “LAMMERTS” MOVING VAN. Company ordered direct from Arcade a number of these and had their logos put on the sides. Company was based in St. Louis, MO; this is a highly popular & sought after toy. Painted in black enamel with gold and silver highlighting and cast iron nickel-plated wheels. SIZE: 13”. UNCLE SAM SAID, GIT ANIMATED CAP GUN. AN36. Circa 1899. Not only is this the rarest and finest example of this gun known to exist, but it was also the cornerstone of Jackie’s cap gun collection!! It was designed by Mr. Franklin after the Spanish-American War. Mr. Franklin took his design to several toy companies (Dent Hardware CO., J & E Stevens, et. al.) and had several castings made of the gun. There are two known versions of this gun. This cast iron nickel-plated gun depicts the caricature of Uncle Sam standing atop the gun kicking Cuban General Weyler in the coattails. When the cap explodes the General promptly falls down, symbolizing his fall from power and subsequent expulsion from Cuba. Marked, “THE PIG THAT DID IT. THE FRANKLIN. DEWEY REMEMBER THE MAINE. WE DO! WE DID IT!” on the grip, “GIT” on Uncle Sam’s leg and “WEYLER” on the General’s coattails. This gun was obtained from a well-known, old-time collector of political items who resided in Harrisburg, PA. SIZE: 4-7/8″ l. CONDITION: Near mint. Retains over 95% original nickel plating. RARE SAILOR TOY CAP BOMB & ORIGINAL PATTERN. Manufactured by Dent. Bomb depicts a smiling sailor with clasped hands. This is one of three sailor cap bombs known. FIGURAL SERPENT CAP GUN/PEA SHOOTER. Circa. 1890’s. Extremely rare and important figural pistol, only one known. When dolphin trigger is pulled back, cap is inserted in top of serpent’s head, and pea is placed in mouth. Upon pulling the trigger, the cap explodes and the pea is ejected. PUBLIC SERVICE BUS BY DENT HARDWARE COMPANY. Perhaps one of the finest toy buses ever manufactured. There are two versions of this bus, this being the more difficult to find, it has a raised roof with four louvers atop. Cast iron wheels with dual rear wheels and spare mounted at back. The bus is painted in robin’s egg blue, with black roof, and trimmed in gold. SIZE: 14″. CONDITION: Overall very fine. JL 1-3864 (4,500-5,500)

DELUXE “ANDY GUMP” CAR. Manufactured by Arcade Mfg. Co. Andy Gump sports a blue jacket with white shirt, red tie, and brown hat. Driving along in his red car with green trim, a nickel-plated grill and license plate bearing the number “348,” the tires are white with green hubs. A wonderful looking car, one could imagine Andy Gump departing for his Sunday drive. SIZE: 7 1/4”. CONDITION: Some chipping to white tires and Andy’s coat, otherwise near excellent condition. KENTON TOURING CAR. A classic design of a touring car, typically well-executed in the Kenton manner. Two-tone sedan in dark blue and black with iron disc wheels, red hubs & silver tires. LARGE GREEN BUS W/SIDEMOUNTS. Manufactured by Arcade Mfg. Co. Bus is green enameled with gilt pinstriping, has dual wheels in back, two wheels in front, and a pair of sidemounts, all nickel plated with gold hubs. A separate nickel-plated bus driver sits in this extremely large and impressive bus which would have been a prized toy for any child from this era. SIZE: 13”. HORSE-DRAWN COAL WAGON BY DENT HARDWARE COMPANY. Part of the infamous load of toys Covert Hegarty pulled from the Dent Hardware Company in the late 50’s. The plethora of toys that he purchased were brand new, never been used and this particular toy, as well as several others in the sale are from that load! Single enameled white horse with a red yoke, drawing an enameled green coal wagon trimmed in gold. Not only is the condition of this toy virtually brand new, never been played with, but present is the original tin chute to carry the coal from the rear of wagon into the coal bin of a house or business. SIZE: 15″ l. CONDITION: Almost mint, unplayed-with condition. TWO HORSE DRAY WAGON BY DENT HARDWARE COMPANY. Another toy from the Hegarty “load”. A brown & white horse pulls this red dray, yellow wiffle tree and wheels with a japanned driver. SIZE: 16″ l. THREE HORSE TRANSFER WAGON BY DENT HARDWARE COMPANY. Once again, this was a toy from Covert Hegarty’s “load” as discussed in the previous lot. A brown, gray & black horse draw the enameled dark green transfer wagon which is trimmed in gold. A unique feature of this toy is the bowler-hatted, multi-colored gentleman of black ethnicity who is driving. One of the problems Dent Hardware Co. had was with their paint which became very dry and was extremely susceptible to flaking; this is evident by observing this toy and looking at the bray horse, red whiffle tree and red wheels. It is believed that these toys never were played with by children and once found by Covert, only enjoyed by toy collectors. SIZE: 19″ l. BROWNIE ATOP HORSE. Manufactured by Hubley Mfg. Co. A rare toy in very good condition, a must-have if you have oversized the Brownie Sleigh. The oversized Brownie is the same as the figure in the Brownie Sleigh with the exception of his legs being spread (to sit atop horse). On an enameled black base, a silver horse with red and black trim, the Brownie painted in red with green cap and flesh-toned face. SIZE: 6 1/2”. IDEAL BICYCLE RIDER. Produced by Ideal Mfg. Co. Quite a unique toy, one of two known. More interesting is the fact that both toys came from Minnesota, a fair distance from Detroit, Michigan, where Ideal Mfg. Co. was located. The articulated bicyclist in the center gives realistic motion, as though he were pedaling his bicycle down the street. The two cyclists, one on either side, are accompanying him on his journey. PAIR OF CAST IRON RIDERS ON BIKES. Attributed to Ideal, once again, a multitude of companies manufactured this particular toy (Shimer, Kenton, etc.). Similar in construction and paint to the rare large Ideal bicycle rider with two accompanying riders, these two gentlemen would be a fine addition to race alongside this toy. SIZE: 3 3/4″. NODDERS WAGON BY HUBLEY MANUFACTURING. An extremely rare comic toy and perhaps one of the hardest pieces to find. The double eagle wagon consists of gloomy gus driving, an oversized happy hooligan nodder and an oversized foxy grandpa nodder. WILKINS SPRINKLER WAGON. Incredibly rare and highly sought after, this massive toy that also features very delicate castings, still retains its original hose and sprinkler bar. The cylindrical capped tank (replaced cap) is drawn by two large black horses, driven by derbied driver, this is one spectacular toy. Provenance: Hegarty Collection. SIZE: 14 1/2″. WELKER & CROSBY “ONE-HORSE TRUCK”. A fine early horse-drawn dray complete with removable sides, seat, rear stakes, and center support. Enameled in green with red wheels and yoke, and a japanned horse. As pictured in the Welker & Crosby catalog, this is number 11. SIZE: 14”. CONDITION: Overall condition very good. IVES POLAR ICE WAGON. An exceptional toy being pulled by two mules. With a patent date of July 23, 1896, this rare toy is enameled in red with gilt trim and japanned mules. SIZE: 14” l. “BOY’S EXPRESS” WAGON. Manufactured by Pratt & Letchworth. A red work cart with a high seat has simulated wood paneling and stenciled words “BOY’S EXPRESS CO.” on either side and yellow spoke wheels. Driver is enameled with blue coat and hat, brown pants, black shoes, and flesh toned face and hands, and is driving two Clydesdale work horses of cream color trimmed in black and red with gray manes and tails. As this wagon is a realistic depiction of farm life, this toy was enjoyed by children of this era and amuses adults of all time periods. SIZE: 17”. HORSE-DRAWN PURE LAKE ICE WAGON BY HARRIS. Red wagon embossed “PURE LAKE ICE” on both sides w/brown roof, yellow wheels and being pulled by a pair of work horses, one enameled white and the other black. Includes a deliveryman dressed in blue with black cabin boots and a flesh colored face. An impressive toy! SIZE: 13-1/2” l. CONDITION: Good with overall wear and small chip on the roof. PRATT & LETCHWORTH DRAY. Pictured in the P&L catalog and referred to as #1 “Single Truck” this toy is a perfect replica of the dray wagons from the 1880’s-1890’s. Gentleman riding high atop dray bed while carrying his cargo behind him. Removable stake sides cast iron dray bed with wooden inserts. A nice all original toy. SIZE: 13”. WILKINS TWO-HORSE PUMPER. A fine early transitional pumper with a silhouetted driver. Horses are removable from posts, posts activated by wire attached to front wheel cause a galloping motion. The toy is black enameled with yellow trim and yellow whiffle tree with black pin striping on wheels. SIZE: 14-1/2”. CONDITION: Overall condition is very good. Each horse has four posts on bottom of stomach to maintain position on whiffle tree. One horse lacking a post, second horse lacking two posts. This does not detract or affect the value of this toy. A spectacular horse-drawn toy drawn by a caramel and white horse, the back end contains the nickel-plated chemical tank, a cast iron bucket hanging from frame & two iron ladders (replacements). The enameling of this toy is sensational with pinstriping to the whiffle tree & wheels; the back end is painted in red with yellow & black highlighting. WILKINS HOSE REEL. A great toy! This is the mate to the Wilkins Chemical Wagon. Caramel and white horse with a red whiffle tree, pinstriped in black. The back end being enameled in red with black highlighting and a yellow hose reel trimmed in red. A seated fireman is at the reins and a standing fireman is on rear platform. CLOWN PUSH CHIME BELL TOY. Manufactured by Watrous Mfg. Co. One of the most intriguing and whimsical of the push stick bell toys! A multicolored enameled clown riding a copper washed iron tree branch proceeds in a forward motion while bells attached to bottom of branch are alternatively struck. SIZE: 7” ht. INDEPENDENCE BELL TOY. Attributed to The Gong Bell Co. Another unusually large patriotic bell toy with an ornate base dated 1776-1876 “INDEPENDENCE”. Upon close examination of this toy, one notices that the base consists of two shields connected by stars in the middle. A wire armature suspends the large bell, with an eagle perched atop, to the base. When the toy is pulled along the floor, the rear wheels vigorously rock the bell by means of an interconnected wire. CAT AND NEGRO BOY BELL TOY. Manufactured by N. N. Hill Brass Co. A wonderful depiction of a black youth pulling the cat’s tail! Youth and cat affixed to a simulated grass base made of cast iron. “HEE-HAW” BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. A clown atop an obstinate mule attempts to leap over a fence, unsuccessfully. When toy is rolled along the floor, rear wheels activate mule’s tail, ringing the bell. The toy is painted in realistic multicolored enamels. SIZE: 6”. “THE BOY SCOUT” BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. An extremely rare bell toy (1 of 2 known) of a Boy Scout dressed in regulation scout uniform of the time with an extended pole which would have had a paper American Flag attached. Upon close inspection, the cast iron base is composed of a fanciful casting of simulated branches with crossed muskets at the Scout’s feet. SIZE: 7”. “DING DONG BELL” BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. A most enchanting and whimsical toy that holds great appeal!! SPECTACULAR LARGE SWING BELL TOY. Attributed to Ives, Blakeslee, & Williams Co. This dramatic and huge bell toy was one of Bob’s favorites! The sensational castings speak for themselves. In remarkable condition, void of damage, this toy can stand alone in any collection. The frame is enameled in dark blue with an abundance of gilt highlighting to the embossed trim on the castings & the swing is enameled in red paint. SMALL SWING TOY. Attributed to The Gong Bell Co. A particularly delicate casting including a formed tin bassinet and a gilt bird at the lead of this toy swing. Although unable to locate in a Gong Bell catalog, this toy demonstrates all the characteristics of a toy Gong Bell would have produced. Purchased from the famed Perelman Antique Toy Museum of Philadelphia, PA. SIZE: 8”. CONDITION: Very fine—near mint, paint loss primarily on wire supports and tin bassinet. YOUNG AMERICAN BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. A fine, large, patriotic themed bell toy, featuring a cast iron base with stars embossed throughout and a large bell hanging on the center axle. SIZE: 7”. CONDITION: Overall condition very good. JL 1-4058 (500-700)

ROCKING BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. This bell toy features a finely cast horse (lead) atop a delicately cast base of iron. The horse is actually standing on a United States shield! LARGE HUBLEY OPEN TOURING CAR. Perhaps the only known example, this is an extremely rare toy. In very fine all original condition, this large (11-1/2”) automobile is the perfect mate for the revered Hubley Packard. Although not as elaborate as the Packard, this automobile still has a great presence. CONDITION: Overall condition very fine, alligatoring to black paint on fenders and rear canopy/roof. HUBLEY PACKARD. Perchance the “Holy Grail” of an automotive collection! This toy came directly from an estate in New Jersey, and Bob & Jackie were delighted to add this to their expansive collection. It is most difficult to find one with original hoods, doors and great paint. Although this was an expensive toy when purchased, it was quite susceptible to damage and/or lost parts. This particular example is in outstanding condition, especially the roof, toy shows very little overall wear. A must have for any true toy automotive collector! SIZE: 11” l. ARCADE MACK SCISSOR DUMP. Another great example of Arcade copying a real life vehicle. A finely executed toy featuring the old time scissor dumps used to deliver coal to houses and places of business. This toy features a two-part coal department with original tin divider, black rubber tires, and nickel-plated steel lever mechanism. SIZE: 10”. CONDITION: Near mint with minor chipping overall. ARCADE MACK ICE TRUCK. Large Mack ice truck with cast iron spoked nickel plated wheels. LARGE ARCADE MACK GASOLINE TRUCK. Truck painted green overall with a tin tank being supported by a cast iron frame stenciled, “GASOLINE”. HUBLEY MACK INGERSOLL RAND TRUCK. An extremely difficult toy to find, especially in fine condition. This Mack truck features expansion tanks and Ingersoll Rand compressor motor on its rear bed. Toy is primarily green with red tanks and nickel-plated engine. It has cast iron nickel-plated spoke wheels and original Hubley decal on rear. SIZE: 8”. ARCADE REO COUPE. A fine all-original example in outstanding condition! This car features a rumble seat (w/Arcade sticker intact), nickel-plated grill, nickel-plated driver, dual side-mount iron spares, and hard white rubber tires with red inserts. Brightly painted in yellow with red highlighting and a black chassis with silver bumpers. SIZE: 9”. CONDITION: A most desirable automobile and difficult to find in fine condition & without repairs. WILKINS “WORLD’S FAIR” TROLLEY CAR. A red trolley car with open windows and maroon roof is riding on black wheels with the words “WORLD’S FAIR ST. R.” stamped on either side. 8” ELECTRIC RAILROAD STILL BANK. This bank is attributed to William Shimer & Son. A fine desirable and seldom found still bank, complete with conductor. In original japanned finish. Finely cast with intricate pattern to sides of this trolley. Conductor still retains some original flesh-paint coloring to face. SIZE: 8”. SWAN CHARIOT BY J. & E. STEVENS. A spectacular toy of this time period. As the young lady sits in her shell seat, the swan flaps her wings, and bellows squeak as the toy is pulled along the floor. CHINESE MUST GO ANIMATED CAP GUN. AN5. Manufactured by Ives, circa 1880. Place cap in Chinaman’s mouth and man with derby strikes Chinaman in rear, closing Chinaman’s mouth and exploding cap. This piece is historically significant in that it represents the conflict that arose when the Chinese were brought to this country to work on the railroad. RARE PRATT & LETCHWORTH FLYING ARTILLERY. An exceeding rare toy. Although several companies produced an artillery toy none could hold a candle to the Pratt & Letchworth example! Polychromed in brilliant colors not only does this toy feature four galloping horses, all in different colors but it has six military figures accompanying the caisson & cannon!! P & L best known for attention to detail and choice colors produced this toy with removable figures, two on the horses, two seated on the caisson & two seated next to the cannon. No other known example exists with this configuration, not even the Hegarty example that was sold in December 2001. If one desired a caisson of any sort this would be the example to own! RARE EAGLE ON PERCH ROCKER BELL TOY. Of unknown manufacture, this is a rare and seldom seen bell toy. The gold and cream colored eagle with a bell attached under beak is standing on a cream colored perch this is affixed to a scalloped rocking base. This toy is a one piece iron casting of fine quality painted in cream with gold and red highlighting. Brass bell is similar to those used by The Gong Bell Co. and N. N. Hill Brass Co. SIZE: 5”. SCARCE “WASHER WOMAN” BY IVES, BLAKESLEE & WILLIAMS CO. A wonderful toy of a black lady and a cast iron wash tub. When the toy is rolled on the ground, she leans to and fro, scrubbing her wash while the bell tolls. On a red enameled base with gold highlighting, the figure, which is of typical Ives construction including the applied brass face, is similar in nature to the “TWILBY” BELL TOY by Ives. SIZE: 7 1/2″. RARE SURF BOAT BELL TOY. Manufactured by Ives, Blakeslee & Williams Co, this rare bell toy rolls along the ground, the eccentric wheels force the boat to go up and down, as though rocking in the waves. Tin painted figures on either end look towards the bell in the middle of the boat. Boat is made of cast iron and tin. SIZE: 8”. THE HUNTER BELL TOY. Manufactured by N. N. Hill Brass Co. This finely detailed bell toy depicting a hunter out shooting rabbits. When this toy is rolled along the floor, the front wheels activate the rabbit, which pops out of his warren with the crouched hunter taking aim. SIZE: 6”. “MONKEY CHARIOT” BELL TOY. Manufactured by Kyser & Rex, this charming bell toy features a dressed monkey with cap riding in his green enameled chariot, which is dated “OCT 28, 1880”. As the toy is pulled along the floor, the monkey’s arms alternately swing, and the coconuts in his hands strike the bell. The chariot features a decaled rose on rear and gold pinstriping to wheels. ONE-OF-A-KIND “TWILBY” BELL TOY BY IVES, BLAKESLEE & WILLIAMS CO. A sensational bell toy depicting a woman on a cast iron enameled base. When pulled on the floor, the moveable circular “paddle” under the woman’s feet flaps up and down, causing the bell to ring and the woman to dance. The figure is identical to many other figures used on Ives toys, and overall construction and quality are similar to the Ives “WASHER WOMAN” SIZE: 8”. LOCOMOTIVE “857” TRAIN SET BY HUBLEY MANUFACTURING COMPANY. A 1920’s-style locomotive 4-4-0 #857, Pennsylvania Rail Road tender & a Panama side dump car (red enameled). The black enameled iron locomotive (tin engine cab roof), which is well defined with engineers visible in the cab window is obviously on a run from the coal mines back to Lancaster, carrying a load of coal for the Hubley factory. OVERSIZED PRATT & LETCHWORTH PASSENGER TRAIN. Believed to be the largest cast iron toy train ever made, one wonders how a child could have ever have played with such an elephantine toy! Truly a phenomenal casting effort, considering that the passenger car alone is 20″ long! A finely detailed train, especially the passenger cars that have incredible pinstriping and are stenciled, “NEWYORK CENTRAL AND HUDSON RIVER R.R., VANDERBILT”. The combination baggage/passenger car is also rubberstamped “NEW YORK CENTRAL AND HUDSON RIVER R.R., WAGNER BUFFET VESTIBULE”. WILKINS “CITY OF NEW YORK” PADDLE WHEELER BOAT. A large and impressive representation of a 19th Century Mississippi paddle wheeler. Has fantastic color scheme consisting of yellow top with red cabin, cream sides, red trim, and fancy green trim, red center wheel, stamped “City of New York” SIZE: 15″. ARCADE SHOWBOAT. Very unusual large cast iron boat, similar to those used on the Mighty Mississippi. Cutout windows along entire top perimeter of boat. Brightly enameled with red roof, cream sides, and green hull. Embossed on sides “SHOWBOAT” highlighted in red with gold accents. Stern of boat is embossed “TICKETS”. Other markings include Arcade 433R, includes original Arcade decal. As boat rolls along floor, bell is struck. SIZE: 10 3/4″. CARPENTER’S BURNING BUILDING. Oh, wow! Perhaps one of the greatest toys ever manufactured!! Carpenter, located in Port Chester, New York modeled their building after the brownstones of New York City. Mounted upon a wooden base with a simulated cast iron sidewalk, this two-story version has the second floor “on fire”. One fireman has his firehose aimed at the flames, the second fireman ascends his ladder to rescue the damsel in distress who is evading the flames by standing on her balcony. Intricate detail to the castings further adds to the appeal of this toy. The rescue is performed by pulling the string. The fireman then leaps up the ladder, rescues the young lady with her arm and then climbs back down with the lady in his arms. SIZE: 17” h. CONDITION: Although paint shows wear and distress, this particular toy is in extremely fine original condition. RARE DELUXE #14 PUMPER BY CARPENTER. Scarce version of this elaborate pumper with removable horses and silhouette figures. Identical to #33, but a slightly more affordable model as it did not contain the two side flywheels or the expansion valve protruding from rear of boiler. All black enamel pumper with gold highlights and #14 on side, red wheels and yoke, being pulled by black and white galloping horses. SIZE: 18” l. #55 CARPENTER FIRE PATROL. Red wagon embossed “fire patrol” on both sides and 55 under the seat. Three original passengers and original driver enameled in blue coats, black fire helmets, flesh tone faces and hands. Has both original wooden barrels, yellow enamel wheels and yoke supporting black and white enameled horses with gold trappings. “TEDDY BEAR” BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co., this teddy bear, dressed in a sweater, stands atop a rustic log base. It is highly unusual that the bear is painted brown with a blue sweater, as most known examples the bear is silver with a polychromed sweater. FISH BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. This whale bell toy is the precursor of the “JONAH AND THE WHALE” bell toy, the only difference being that the latter had a slot cut in the head with Jonah sitting atop the whale. JONAH AND THE WHALE BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. This bell toy followed the “FISH BELL TOY” however we have been unable to determine its catalog number. This toy features Jonah riding on the whale’s head with a “fishing pole” using a bell for bait. When rolled along the floor, the whale’s jaw opens and closes and Jonah rocks to and fro. SIZE: 5 1/2”. “GATOR BAITER” BELL TOY. Attributed to N. N. Hill Brass Co. A realistic alligator with snapping jaw is being baited by the youth holding a bell in his hand on a simulated earthen base. When rolled along on the floor, the gator lurches forward, dropping his lower jaw, while the boy leans forward teasing the gator with his bell. SIZE: 9”. CONDITION: Overall fine original condition. CENTENNIAL LIBERTY BELL TOY. Attributed to The Gong Bell Co. An unusually large patriotic bell toy, the ornate base dated 1776-1876 “CENTENNIAL” with a multitude of stars embossed upon the base. Perhaps the most interesting point to mention is the elaborately large cast bell stating “OLD LIBERTY BELL JULY 4th 1776.” SIZE: 8 1/2”. CONDITION: Overall condition is very fine, flag replaced. TURTLE AND CLOWN BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. A seldom found and somewhat rare bell toy of a highly detailed lead clown atop bell and turtle. Realistically painted with attention to detail, this bell toy can easily be overlooked by a collector at first glance. Probably one of the first bell toys Gong Bell manufactured (#19 in catalog). TORTOISE WITH FROG ON HIS BACK BELL TOY. Of unknown manufacture. A finely cast tortoise with a frog mounted to his back, when pulled along the floor the eccentric wheels (under tortoise) cause a rocking motion thus causing the bell to ring as well. DOG AND CAT BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. This toy demonstrates the age-old animosity common between cat and dog. When the toy is pulled on the floor, the dog leaps from his dog house at the hissing feline, only to be stopped short by his chain. “DRUMMER BOY” BELL TOY. Attributed to J. & E. Stevens Co. A climactic toy that can stand alone even if one is not a toy collector. A uniformed soldier strikes the bell with drumsticks using his right and left hands. The embellished base has a blooming rose beneath the drum (bell) & cornucopias framing the words “DRUMMER BOY” directly behind the drummer. Leading the way at the tip of the bell toy is an eagle about to take flight. The Stevens Co. used exemplary colors in polychroming this bell toy. SIZE: 10”. IVES 1912 COAL WAGON. A red wagon embossed with “COAL” in gold highlighting on black enameled spoke wheels is ridden by a black youth. Original tin Ives tag on side of wagon reads “IVES No0,” and this tag was only used in the 1912 series of toys. Also has an unusual side opening yoke exclusive to Ives toys that allows for removal of mule, which was japanned in black. SIZE 10 1/2”. CONDITION: Overall excellent condition, some wear to figure. EXTREMELY RARE OVERSIZED DOGCART BY IVES. Unusually large and impressive black enameled dogcart with gilt cowl lamps drawn by japanned jointed walking horse. IVES CART WITH WALKING MULE. This large cart with spoke wheels is being pulled by a walking mule, and all are japanned. The wagon detaches from the mule by means of the harness so that each piece can be enjoyed separately. This very amusing toy provided hours of play for children and will entertain adults as well. WOW!! WILKINS 40” WATER TOWER. It is difficult to conceive that such a large and wonderful toy was ever produced! This toy can stand on its own—it is a collection in and of itself. If you desire only one toy to top your mantle, this should be it. Being pulled by three oversized horses caught in the action of racing towards a fire, the carriage, which carries the water tower, is an impressive 33” long. The large oversized driver, a wonderful aspect to this toy, is enameled with a red jacket, black pants, hat, and dastardly mustache, and flesh toned face and hands. RARE WELKER & CROSBY PUMPER. A fine early toy with a unique mechanism to simulate a walking motion of the horses. When the toy is rolled along the floor, wires connected to inside of horses and interconnected to yoke and front axle cause an alternative rocking motion. HUBLEY HORSE DRAWN FIRE PATROL. Patrol wagon painted in fire engine red, embossed “Fire Patrol” on sides atop brightly enameled yellow wheels, yellow yolk supports black and white horses with red, black, and gold trappings. SIZE: 15 1/2”. CONDITION: overall very fine condition and quite difficult to find an early Hubley piece with strong, full enameling. Has three replacement figures and no driver. 1912 IVES HOSE REEL. An exceptional Ives toy pictured in their 1912 train catalog. One of the last offerings by Ives of their cast iron toys. This model is of a one-horse hose reel and still retains its original tin label (behind rear wheel) that they also used on their O-gauge train locomotives. The large white outstretched stallion, racing to the fire has a rod connected to its rear foot, which is also connected to its eccentric front axle creating a galloping motion. The back end is painted in pumpkin with its original red capped gray dressed driver and still retains its original rubber hose and lead nozzle. SIZE: 17″ l. RARE WILKINS CHIEF’S CART. A galloping horse on his way to the fire with the chief at the reins of his cast iron cart. FINE EARLY KENTON PUMPER. A real charmer! This very early pumper at first glance could be misconstrued for Shimer. The horses and back end are copper flashed, while the yoke is red with a plethora of silver pinstriping. The black enameled wheels have a great degree of gilt trim, and the boiling mechanism is embossed Kenton. The extremely detailed horses are similar in nature to the renowned Shimer horses. LARGE HOOK & LADDER BY IDEAL. The hook and ladder on this toy is nickel-plated and is embossed “IDEAL FIRE DEPARTMENT” on either side. Red enameled spoke wheels, iron buckets and axes, and red wooden ladders are accessories included. Two firemen sport red jackets, blue pants, black hats and shoes, and flesh-toned faces and hands. Two large horses, one brown and one silver, both in gold trappings, are galloping—as is illustrated by their flowing manes and tails—towards their destination. This is one of a set of three pieces that all came from their original owner. These highly sought-after Ideal toys are among the most realistically cast replicas of their time period. SIZE: 32”. FIRE CHIEF CART. Manufactured by W. M. Shimer, Son & Co. This nickel-plated cart has separately casted side lamps which are enameled in black and red. Red spoked wheels carry the cart, driven by a fireman enameled with a red coat, black pants and hat, and flesh colored face, and hauled by brown a horse harnessed in gold trappings with a single wheel attached to the right rear hoof. Shimer toys are noted for their realistic features and this is no exception. SIZE: 15”. CONDITION: Overall very good condition but some overall wear. MC 1-3989 (1,500-2,000)

PIONEER MACK FIRE ENGINE W/BOX BY DENT HARDWARE CO. Produced both in cast iron & aluminum this toy represented a true life model from Allentown, PA. The Pioneer Fire House still stands today on the corner of Tilghman Ave. This example is made of polished aluminum and outfitted with a driver, two ladders & two hoses. SIZE: 13″. VERY RARE CANNIBAL HEAD CAP CANE. Of unknown manufacture. Ca. 1900. This cannibal head with exaggerated grotesque features of an African native made as cap bomb, but is the only known example made to take cane handle. Identical to bomb version except bottom casting was made to fit cane shaft. Slam cannibal down on head and cap explodes. SIZE: Overall 33″, head measures 2 3/4″. PAIR OF FIRECRACKER BATTLESHIPS PROBABLY BY GREY IRON. Highly unusual and seldom seen, these realistic renderings of 1890’s warships include the “Olympia” and the “Oregon” in battleship gray, embossed on both sides. FULLY ARTICULATED CAST IRON MONKEY ATTRIBUTED TO IVES. A finely cast dressed monkey mounted to a wooden base is adjustable to stand in various positions. Polychromed in green, robin’s egg blue and yellow, the monkey wears a fez cap. He has a nasty look on his face, so keep your distance. SIZE: 4-1/4” h. CONDITION: Overall very good. SMALL EARLY KENTON AMBULANCE. Pictured in 1910 Kenton catalog, this WWI type ambulance in khaki green is hard to improve upon. Nickel driver, silver wheels, red cowl lamps with gold tops. LARGE EARLY KENTON AMBULANCE. Fine early automotive ambulance. Nickel-plated with red cast iron spoked wheels. Toy also features a painted driver and a cast iron crank on front. ARCADE BUICK SEDAN. A fine example of the classic 1930’s Buick sedan. Painted in seafoam green with black chassis with black windows and roof. Trimmed in gold with a nickel-plated driver, iron spoked hubs & rubber tires and “Buick” rubberstamped on radiator. SIZE: 8”. CHEVY COUPE. Manufactured by Arcade Mfg. Co. This toy is enameled black with gray body, silver radiator, and includes a Chevy emblem above the front grille. ONE-OF-A-KIND ARCADE INTERNATIONAL PANEL TRUCK W/ADVERTISING. This unusual truck features lettering on side, “United News”. This company was based in the Philadelphia, PA area. Most likely these trucks were originally purchased from Arcade and after market lettering was applied by this firm (United News). The truck is painted in a two-tone green with yellow pinstripe with original Arcade and International decal present. Iron hubs with white rubber tires (fair condition) and a nickel-plated driver. “WEBACO OIL” MACK TRUCK. Manufactured by Arcade Mfg. Co. Truck has a red cab with “MACK” embossed on both sides of enameled cab. The oil tanker is painted yellow with “WEBACO OIL CO.” on tank and “WEBACO FUEL OIL” painted to both sides. Uncertain if this is a factory feature or an after-market addition. Has white rubber tires slipped on steel hubs that are painted red. A very impressive and heavy toy. SIZE: 13”. CONDITION: Overall very good condition, some discoloration to one side of the tank. KILGORE DUMP TRUCK WITH ADVERTISING. A seldom found vehicle in bright orange with factory advertising for the COHO Coal Co., of Lancaster, PA. A fine toy, and a great addition for any automotive collector that also likes advertising on their vehicles. SIZE: 8-1/2”. HUBLEY GENERAL DIGGER W/OB. A toy in near mint condition that has “wet paint”. A pair of these toys was purchased from twin brothers who lived in Mount Lebanon, PA. The name of the one child and address is written in pencil on the top of the box. This toy has paint that jumps out and one could not hope to find a nicer example. HUBLEY DUMP TRUCK W/OB. Truck is painted red with nickel-plated wheels. It has a driver that is part of the casting of the truck with gold highlights and an original Hubley decal. CAST IRON “TOONERVILLE TROLLEY” W/ORIGINAL BOX. Manufactured by The Dent Hardware Co. & licensed by Geo. Borgfeldt and Co. A great whimsical comical toy from the late 20s, early 30s, in the likeness of the “Toonerville Folks.” The nickel-plated eccentric wheels gave the lifelike action that the cartoon portrayed. CANNONBALL TRAIN BY IVES. In the Ives 1893 catalog, this huge train consists of engine, tender, Union Line boxcar & Limited Vestibule Express passenger car. The finely detailed 4-4-0 engine, the “189” coal tender, boxcar with sliding doors & the passenger car with ribbed sides make this a most attractive set. ONE-OF-A-KIND “LANDING OF COLUMBUS” POLYCHROMED BELL TOY W/ORIGINAL BOX. Manufactured by J. & E. Stevens Co. An unprecedented example of a somewhat often found bell toy, when comparing the gold-wash version side-by-side with this polychromed version, the differences and appeal are monumental. Even more so, it is a great find to have an original wooden box (inc. name of toy and manufacturer stamped on box) for a bell toy! Originally this toy surfaced in the Adamstown, PA, area and was immediately purchased by a collector. Bob and Jackie were fortunate enough to purchase this toy from that collector many years later. “LANDING OF COLUMBUS” BELL TOY. Manufactured by J. & E. Stevens Co. A truly underrated and unappreciated bell toy of great quality and historical significance. If one were to closely examine the bell toy, they would see the striking attention to detail and the intricacy of the castings! “LANDING OF COLUMBUS” BRASS PATTERN BELL TOY. Manufactured by J. & E. Stevens Co. At first glance, when one looks at this pattern they believe it looks like the COLUMBUS BELL TOY. It is, except that the lettering (“LANDING OF COLUMBUS”) had never been applied to the left side of the boat. As with most patterns, they are carefully pieced together and some details, such as lettering, are applied after the main parts are intact. The patent date has been soldered on the wrong side, hence the flat, smooth surface where the letters should go but are not present. Regardless, this is still an important piece, and this does not diminish the value of this rare find! In conjunction with this pattern, the previous two lots of the gold-wash version and the only known polychromed version with original box will be offered. SIZE: 7”. CONDITION: Near mint. RARE “THE COLUMBUS EGG” BELL TOY. A marvelous all original bell toy combining early American tin, cast iron, and wood of unknown manufacture, perhaps by J. & E. Stevens or Gong Bell Co.? The gaily painted pig with top hat and “CHICAGO” embossed on his coat, swivels from left to right while spinning “The Columbus Egg” and striking the bell. Perhaps this toy was inspired by the Columbian Exposition held in Chicago in 1893 ?? One of three known. SIZE: 9”. CONDITION: Overall condition excellent, flaking and wear to tin base. ALLIGATOR AND BOY BELL TOY. Manufactured by N. N. Hill Brass Co. A whimsical toy portraying a black youth riding atop an alligator which is trudging along on a log. MONKEYMOBILE BELL TOY. Manufactured by N. N. Hill Brass Co. When pulled along the floor, the monkey’s right arm containing a coconut rises up and strikes a lever in the log base, causing the bell to ring. Multicolored painting enhances the appeal of this toy. “TWO HORSES GALLOPING” BELL TOY. Produced by The Hubley Mfg. Co. One of a handful of the bell toys that Hubley manufactured, this is pictured in their 1906 catalog as model # 98. Toy imitates a steeple chase event, as the horse and riders are racing for first position. When the toy, with simulated grass and log base, is pulled along the horses jump and the bells ring. CHIRPING CHICK BY U.S. HARDWARE. A holiday themed toy, this chick is standing atop holly leaves. When pulled along the chick’s mouth opens and closes and her tail feathers wag. Contained on heart-shaped wheels, the cage beneath the chick has spring-loaded bellows. SIZE: 4 1/2”. CONDITION: Overall condition is very fine, bellows inoperative. JL 1-3981 (1,400-1,800)

ALTHOF BERGMANN GOAT BELL TOY. Bob considered this to be his finest bell toy. An amazing clockwork gig with a black and a white goat. The bell assembly between the two goats. When wound the toy would roll along the floor, the goats , due to the eccentric wheel mechanism, would gallop while the bell would ring. The oversized driver, dressed in period clothing, sits atop the gig with a clear view ahead. Unseen on other tin gigs, this particular example has a fancily embossed gallery around the seat & a tin extension (luggage rack) extending from rear of cart. Gaily painted with gold stenciling. ONLY KNOWN EXAMPLE-JUST OUT BELL TOY. Attributed to Gong Bell, this one of a kind (?) bell toy depicts a tin horse galloping toward the finish line. A fanciful cast iron base with embossed letters “Just Out-1880″ supports an early American tin horse with a bell underneath. SIZE: 6”. IVES SANTA STILL BANK. A highly detailed casting showing Father Christmas holding a bounty of toys. Tree stump next to him would have a feather tree (lacking). Original copper flashing. A. C. WILLIAMS SEAL ON ROCK STILL BANK. Another fine example of an A. C. Williams bank with close attention paid to detailing. INDIAN CHIEF STILL BANK. A spectacular near-mint Indian chief with original rubber-stamped advertising…”Benson’s Wild Animal Farm, Nashua, NH”. Painted in brown with gold, red, black & white trim, this chief overlooks the animals in the wild animal park. SIZE: 6” h. CONDITION: Near mint, it appears screw has never been turned! GREY IRON “COLUMBIA TOWER” STILL BANK. A wonderful and finely cast still bank in the form of Columbia Tower. Japanned finish with gold highlighting, a somewhat difficult bank to find. SIZE: 7”. CONDITION: Overall very fine original condition. JL 1-4036 (500-700)

UNUSUAL PRANCING CAT STILL BANK. Attributed to A. C. Williams, a well-executed and life-like portrayal of a cat with bow affixed to neck. Bank appears to have been originally copper-flashed. SIZE: 6-1/2” l. CONDITION: Overall very good. JL 1-4033 (200-300)

EXTREMELY RARE EXPLODING “BATTLESHIP MAINE”. A wonderful child’s toy (?), this replica of the Battleship Maine, appears to be intact, however when the firecracker in the hull explodes, the port and starboard gun batteries, as well as the superstructure fly off, simulating the true fate of “the Maine” in the Havana harbor. Embossed on the side of the ship…”Battleship Maine. Destroyed in Havana Harbor, Feb. 15, 1898.” Toy was originally displayed for many years in the Perelman Toy Museum (Philadelphia, PA). SIZE: 8”. IVES FIRE HOUSE WITH ORIGINAL PUMPER WAGON. A large firehouse with wood sides, cast iron windows and front that is painted brown and embossed “FIRE ENGINE HOUSE”. There are two large painted green with gold trim spring-loaded doors. When mechanism is wound in engine house it opens doors and rings bell to alert that help is on the way. Pumper is black enameled with red wheels and black enameled horses and figure. It originally was sold with the firehouse. It is a very impressive and rare toy! IVES PHOENIX FIRE PATROL. Black enameled wagon, embossed with gold highlights. Has toolbox attached to back of wagon. Has six seated firemen, all japanned with red paint. The driver enameled in red and blue with japanned legs. Red wheels and yoke, two horses, one japanned, one white, each with gold trappings. An authentic copy of a 19th C. fire patrol wagon. SIZE: 21”. CONDITION: Near excellent with some overall wear with typical wear to white horse. MC 1-3992 (1,200-1,500)

HORSE DRAWN HOOK & LADDER. Manufactured by F. W. Carpenter. This large wagon is enameled black with two red cast iron ladders, two gilt iron buckets red spoke wheels. At the wheel of this toy is a silhouette driver followed by a silhouette tiller man, both of which are enameled with blue jackets, black pants, shoes and fire helmets, and flesh-toned faces and hands. The two galloping horses, one black and one white, leading this wagon are harnessed in gilt highlighting. Unique to Carpenter toys, the movement of this wagon forces a rod on the lower wheels to rotate, causing the horses to rear up into a galloping motion. SIZE: 27”. AERIAL LADDER BY IVES. A remarkable accessory to add to one’s fleet of Ives fire toys! Seldom found, this aerial ladder has adjustable nickel-plated ladders, two firemen and a hose are included. The base of cast iron, enameled in red with the embossed words, “AERIAL LADDER” are highlighted in gold. IVES EXTENSION LADDERS W/ 4 FIREMEN. Typical ladders found on Ives fire toys. SCARCE CARPENTER ENGINE HOUSE. This wonderful wood, cast iron, and tin engine house is referred to in the Carpenter catalog as #58. Very unusual in that this version has a tin roof, whereas most known examples have a wood frame covered in a striped cotton cloth. ELABORATE CARPENTER PUMPER #53. A larger and more deluxe version, this pumper features two original figures. Black and white horses, red yoke with gilt pinstriping and a back end in black enamel with silver paint, gold highlighting, and nickel-plated boiler top. HUBLEY SINGLE REINDEER SANTA SLEIGH. White reindeer with blue sleigh (wet paint!!). The only sorrow this toy shows is that there is some typical flaking to white horses. Otherwise the blue sleigh and red Santa scream. One of the nicest all original Santa sleighs to be found. SIZE: 14 1/2″. CONDITION: White reindeer has flaking to body, Santa and sleigh are near mint. HUBLEY DOUBLE REINDEER SANTA SLEIGH. Although not as nice as the previous Santa sleigh, this example is no slouch. The reindeer have very little flaking and the white sleigh, trimmed in gold and red is very fine and original paint with chipping to seat and floor where Santa sits. SIZE: 16″. LARGE HUBLEY CRASH CAR. Just another spectacular toy from Bob & Jackie’s collection. One of the nicest original crash cars that a collector could hope to acquire. This toy has all the accessories…2 nickel plated axes, hose reel with hose, and the 3 wooden canisters. The paint is spectacular, and the overall condition of the toy is near mint. The rarer light blue driver with brown gloves and hat is in amazing condition. SIZE: 11 ½”. CONDITION: Perhaps the reason this is so nice is the front fork was broken and probably taken away from the child and stored for half a century. Blacklight reveals minor repair at front fork. ARCADE “YELLOW COACH” BUS. A true to scale toy of the real thing! Sharp attention paid to detail by Arcade; this bus is identical to those that traveled our city streets during the 1920’s. Painted in green with black fenders, silver and gold highlighting, and is rubber-stamped “Yellow Coach”. This model has its original white rubber tires on iron hubs and still retains original Arcade decal. Due to its size, this bus is susceptible to cracked posts or other damage. LARGE HUBLEY “PANAMA” DIGGER. A spectacular construction toy! Features two men at work digging in the rear cabin while the driver tends to the managerial duties. LARGE HUBLEY RED MACK “BELL TELEPHONE” TRUCK. It is not often that one can say they have a toy that is near mint and virtually unplayed with! This toy practically has “wet paint” and is one of the finest original Bell Telephone trucks that one could hope to encounter! The white rubber tires are bright, and show no flat spots, the gold ladders are near perfect, and the nickeled parts are extraordinarily bright. Toy retains original cast iron nickel-plated hook and string for boom, which has never been affixed to crank. The original pull cord is still coiled, and also present is the original coil of rope that sits atop cab. The toy has its original cardboard box, marked with the contents and priced at $2.00. In the toy world, collectors and dealers alike would refer to this toy as a “Screamer”! SIZE: 9 ½” (truck only). CONDITION: Toy was found in Lancaster, PA and purchased at a household auction. The driver is part of the casting of the truck, which has nickel-plated wheels, ladder and tools. “BABY QUIETER” BELL TOY. Manufactured by The J. & E. Stevens Co. What a marvelous toy, with fantastic polychromed paint! The father, coming home from work is resting on the chaise lounge while reading the evening news. As the toy rolls along the floor, he gives his infant child a ride on his good leg while his peg-leg rests comfortably. SIZE: 7 1/2”. CONDITION: Visually a near mint toy. TELEPHONE CHIMES BELL TOY. Manufactured by Ives, Blakeslee & Williams Co. A satirical bell toy in the form of a monkey answering the telephone, saying, “Hello, hello?”. Elaborately cast, depicting a seated monkey with a telephone receiver to his ear, TELEPHONE CHIMES embossed on right, HELLO HELLO embossed on left. In the middle are two bells topped by cast gilded lead birds and the front of the toy has the head of a flamingo, the frame is carried on the sensational clown-faced wheels. SIZE: 8 1/2”. “SARATOGA CHIMES” BELL TOY. Manufactured by J. & E. Stevens Co. When Bob and Jackie started collecting bell toys in the early 1980s, they met Max Berry, a fellow collector. They were able to purchase this toy and the CLOWN WITH JUMPING DOG BELL TOY as well. A most popular and desirable toy amongst collectors, this toy is a mix of fantasy and whimsy. A young lad riding atop his white stallion pulls a leafed chariot topped by a rose in bloom. Examining the toy closely, one can appreciate the detailing, such as the hat on the boy, the saddle on the horse, and the intricacy of the leaves that form the chariot. Polychromed in a multitude of colors further add to the appeal of the bell toy. SIZE: 11”. CONDITIONS: Right front leg reattached/repaired with some paint restoration to horse. “WHOA, DAR CAESER” BELL TOY & ROCKING TOY. Both toys attributed to Ives, Blakeslee & Williams Co. Typical of the Ives’ fashion, a high quality and ingenious toy of a black gentleman riding atop a mule. When rolled along the floor, the mule bucks and the bell rings. Accompanying this rare bell toy is a “penny toy” of similar fashion. This features the black gentleman riding the mule on a rocker platform. Both have a japanned finish. TWO GOATS PULLING BUCKBOARD. Manufactured by Harris Mfg. Co. Lady driver being drawn by two white goats harnessed to a blue buckboard with simulated wood planking on bottom with four yellow enameled spoke wheels. Because most carts were pulled by horses, this is a particularly whimsical toy. SIZE: 14”. CONDITION: Overall very good condition, some chipping to goats, lady driver, and spoke wheels. PRATT & LETCHWORTH SINGLE HORSE HOSE REEL. Finely detailed hose reel in green enamel with embossed heart shaped pattern on wheel, red enameled wheels with black pinstriping, black seat, with fireman in black, red, and white. Red yoke attached to white horse with black and red trappings. Scarce toy, these early P&L toys are hard to come by and are highly sought after by collectors. SIZE: 14”. “COAL AND WOOD” WAGON. Manufactured by Pratt & Letchworth. This green wagon is stamped with “COAL AND WOOD” in white, with red spoke wheels being hauled by a black horse wearing a red harness. The driver is a fireman sporting a red shirt, black pants, and white fire helmet. This is an important fire toy in that the COAL AND WOOD wagon was an integral part of the process of putting out a fire. The firemen used the COAL AND WOOD on the wagon to stoke the fire within the pumper to force the water out of the hose and onto the raging flames that were being fought. SIZE: 12 1/2”. RED HORSE-DRAWN WAGON BY CARPENTER. Cast iron wagon enameled red with a removable wood and cast iron seat, black enameled wheels and yoke supporting a white & black trotting horse with gold highlights. RARE IVES BANDWAGON WITH FOUR HORSES. This is an extremely rare bandwagon, and as was once stated by Frank Whitson, “This toy is as rare as hen’s teeth!” Featuring a gilt painted carriage embossed with horses, eagles and lions on either side, the seats are of blue enamel with japanning to the interior, and riding along are eight musicians and a driver (five are of newer vintage). The wheels are painted yellow and all is pulled along by four large horses, two japanned, two silver, all with red highlights. Provenance Cametto Collection. SIZE: 31”. SMALL HUBLEY BANDWAGON WITH FOUR HORSES. Bandwagon consists of four gray horses with gold trim pulling an ornately cast red wagon with gold highlighted scrolling. Six original band figures are all-original but may have started out on different toys. Has blue starburst wheels with gilt highlighting. A highly sought-after toy! SIZE: 22 1/4”. HUBLEY MIRRORED TRAPEZE VAN WITH MONKEY. Medium sized green wagon with red back door driven by yellow figure with flesh tone features. Sides of wagon embossed with gold scrollwork and lions around oval mirrors on either side, all pulled by two black horses. This is a toy that is very difficult to find with the original revolving monkey, as is pictured here. When pulled along, chain driven mechanism makes brown monkey turn flips on trapeze above. RARE KILGORE CAST IRON “RANGER JR.” CANNON. Ca. 1920’s. This spring loaded projectile shooter is decorated in red enamel with black carriage. BRASS DENT PATTERN FOR DEWEY CAP BOMB. Originally a 16-head Dewey bust pattern (missing 2) affixed to a brass tree. Found on the third floor of the famous Dent Factory (Fullerton, PA). The factory closed operations during the early 1970’s, and several patterns and parts were acquired from the subsequent owner after the closure. Occasionally, individual patterns might be found, but this is the only known example where patterns are still gated to their tree. RED “DUMP WAGON.” Manufactured by Hubley Mfg. Co. A brightly red enameled cart with gold highlighted “DUMP WAGON” embossed on either side. When the lever is pulled, the bottom of the cart drops to release the load being carried. The cart is being lead by two prancing horses painted black with gilt highlighting and carried on yellow spoke wheels. LION HINDU CART. Made by a multitude of companies (Jones & Bixler, Shimer, Hubley, Dent, and Kenton) this particular example is being attributed to Kenton. The alligatoring to the deep red paint and the peen on the axle are synonymous to Kenton. The japanned figure with white and blue highlighting rides atop a cart being drawn by ferocious lion. UNCLE SAM CHARIOT. Manufactured by Kenton Mfg. Co. An expressively patriotic toy, the chariot is shaped like an eagle painted silver with embossed blue stars around the base. Uncle Sam stands proudly in his chariot, which is being drawn by two black enameled horses with gold and silver trim. This toy uses both of the most recognizable symbols of patriotism. SIZE: 12”. SHIMER RABBIT CHARIOT. Hare today gone tomorrow, this curious toy of two painted “worker” hares pulling a chariot driven by the Head Hare. When pulled along the floor, the two worker hares gallop along due to the eccentric wheels beneath them as the Head Hare looks on. Another toy purchased from the Perelman Museum after its closure. RARE NIP & TUCK STRING SCISSOR TOY. Attributed to Ives Blakeslee & Company, this little witty toy consists of a black dog and a white dog with strings attached to their mouth. When using a scissor-type movement, the iron disk attached to the cord and between the two dogs would spin. An amusing little toy that is seldom found! CLOWN WITH JUMPING DOG BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. When Bob and Jackie started collecting bell toys in the early 1980s, they met Max Berry, a fellow collector. They were able to purchase this toy and the SARATOGA CHIMES BELL TOY as well. An impressive toy not only in regards to the action, but the size. When pulled along the floor, the poodle leaps through the cloth hoop swinging around and striking the bell. This is one of the few bell toys ever manufactured with a gear-type mechanism to accentuate the movement of the toy. Polychromed in bright colors. SIZE: 12 1/2”. THE BILLY’S BELL TOY. Manufactured by The Gong Bell Co. An engaging bell toy that demonstrates a butting match between the white goat and black goat only to be refereed by the bell between them. (1) The SWISS CHIMES BELL TOY consists of four bells, side-by-side, with nickel-plated elliptical wheels and heart shaped design. (2) The STACKING CHIMES BELL TOY consists of three bells, one atop the next, with nickel-plated elliptical wheels and heart shaped design. (3) Of unknown manufacture. A combination of cast iron and tin, this bell toy features a nickel plated man with painted highlights sitting atop the sulky/wheeled bell toy being drawn by a nickel plated horse with painted highlights. REMARKABLE GIRL RIDING SIDESADDLE ON MULE. An obscure and rarely found toy. A plethora of reproductions of this particular toy are available, but seldom does one have the opportunity to purchase an original example. Manufactured by U.S. Hardware, the quality casting features a truly lifelike mule and a young lady riding sidesaddle who rocks in a realistic motion as the toy is pulled along the floor with its eccentric wheels. EXCEEDINGLY SCARCE CONTRACTORS WAGON W/OB BY WILKINS. Seldom-found, this toy has a Clydesdale-like work horse attached to a swiveling contractors dump. The uniqueness of this toy is a free-floating seat in front of the dump and a lift flap on the rear to empty the dump wagon. A black enameled horse in gold and red trim and the yoke and dump wagon, in brick red and the smaller front wheels in yellow enamel w/black pinstriping are offset by the larger wheels on the dump body. Typical Wilkins figure used on many of their toys, such as the mower, tetter, hay rake, etc. The wooden dovetailed box is lacking lid and void of label. SIZE: 13-1/2″ l. COAL WAGON BEING PULLED BY MULE, 1912. Manufactured by Ives Mfg. Co. Large gray cart embossed and gilt highlighted with “COAL” on both sides, orange spoke wheels. A darkie is standing in the cart, which is being pulled by a large japanned and gilt mule wearing a saddle and harness. RIVAL RANGE BY J. & E. STEVENS CO., W/ORIG. BOX. One of the most elaborate and fanciful cast iron stoves! The nickel plating allows one to see the intricate detail on this stove. HARRIS CITY DELIVERY TRUCK. Exquisite wagon with yellow, green, and red sides, stenciled “City Delivery” with open/close back gate, yellow enameled wheels and yoke supporting two black horses with red trappings, being driven by figure in blue uniform with black boots and hat. This is a typical delivery wagon one would see on the streets New York in the 1890’s. A very desirable feature of this toy is the eye-catching color scheme. You can almost smell the fresh baked bread that he was likely delivering. SIZE: 15 1/2”. CONDITION: Light overall wear, particularly to black enameled areas, otherwise very good condition. SHIMER ICE WAGON. Shimer had the knack for manufacturing incredibly realistic horses. The pair drawing this ice wagon are just starting their gallop as their rear legs are touching the ground as their front legs are poised for action. The rear end is nickel plated as is the driver, with quite possibly the original string reins and bell attached. SIZE: 13″. CONDITION: Very fine plus. JL 1-4129 (800-1,000)

EARLY RED PONY CART. Manufactured by F. W. Carpenter. A red cart with blue interior and seat has two black enameled wheels. The cart is being pulled by a brown horse in a red harness with two wheels beneath, an aspect typical to Carpenter toys, that provide the horse with its realistic galloping motion. SIZE: 11 1/2”. HUBLEY ROMAN CHARIOT W/ THREE HORSES. Roman chariot with two black horses and white center horse. Extremely fancy chariot body in red paint with gold highlights, highly embossed with human figures and a lion’s head around the outside. Rider is in blue tunic with flowing brown hair and flesh toned exposed areas. SIZE: 10″. CONDITION: One of the finest examples of this toy around. I ALWAYS DID ‘SPISE A MULE TOY. By today’s standard, this toy would not be politically correct, but during the time period of the 1890’s, the political and ethnic slurs were imitated and copied into toys. This toy features a black youth upon a mule. When the lever is pressed, the mule bucks sending the black youth “head over heels”. The intense detailing and painting of the base, mule, and rider make this a visually striking toy. SIZE: 9 1/2″. BAD ACCIDENT PULL TOY. Similar in nature to the J & E Stevens Bad Accident bank, this caricature of a black man proceeds to whip the mule as the toy is pulled along the floor. Colored in the vibrant paint scheme that Stevens is known for, this would be a fine addition to one’s bank or pull toy collection. SIZE: 9″. CONDITION: Overall very fine original condition. KATZENJAMMER SPANKING TOY. Manufactured by Kenton Hardware, this animated toy features Mama spanking Hans while Fritz stands beside her screaming and holding his backside. The Captain is driving the mule cart down the road, heading back home. Polychromed in vibrant colors, this is a classic and desirable toy. SIZE: 11 1/2″. “ALFONSE AND GASTON” CAR. Manufactured by Kenton Mfg. Co. This toy is pictured in the 1911 Kenton Hardware Mfg. Co. catalog. Orange car with gaily painted red wheels driven by Gloomy Gus with Alfonse and Gaston as the happy passengers. As the car is pulled along the floor one can just imagine Alfonse nodding “Before you, Gaston,” as Gaston returns with his “Before you, Alfonse.” An imaginative twist on these commonly found comic characters from the 1911 funnies, this toy would be a prized addition to any comic character collection. MAMMOTH ARMY MOTOR TRUCK BY KENTON. This truck is a screamer! Rarely does one find the Hubley 5-ton truck in virtually unplayed-with condition. “PARCEL POST” DELIVERY CYCLE. Manufactured by Hubley Mfg. Co. A two cylinder Harley Davidson Motorcycle with black rubber tires, nickel-plated tin spokes accentuated by a clicker on the undercarriage, is ridden by a delivery man wearing a blue uniform, brown hat, and silver and black goggles covering his flesh-colored face. Original aluminum handlebars and a Harley Davidson decal complete the cycle. Attached is a sidecar made to hold the parcels that the delivery man totes that is enameled in green with gilt-highlighted embossing stating “PARCEL POST” on either side and “US” on the back. OVERSIZED MACK STAKE TRUCK. Manufactured by Dent Hardware Co., this truck was one of a series of four made. The truck, completely original including all of the original stakes and original chain are still present. ARCADE CATERPILLAR TRACTOR W/OB. A sensational caterpillar tractor in near mint condition. Vibrant yellow paint makes this tractor jump out. Caterpillar and Arcade decals on both sides. HUBLEY AHRENS-FOX PUMPER. Red painted engine equipped with original nickel-plated pump, driver, ladders, hose, and reel. White rubber tires with wooden hubs.
