23” SO-CALLED BELTON DOLL. Incised “183,” and “13” at the base of the neck. Solid dome bisque head with large blue paperweight eyes, close mouth with white space between, and painted highlights at top and bottom of lips. Doll is on a fully articulated unmarked French wood and composition body, wearing a purple brocade skirt with shirtwaist of purple brocade, ivory silk, and v-shaped lace collar, and new black oilcloth shoes. Dark human hair wig of corkscrew curls is topped by a hat of navy blue covered in feathers. CONDITION: Bisque is very good, one minor black speck above right eye and another below lower lip, body has original finish. RS 1-3562 (800-1,200)
