16” CLOSE MOUTH FRENCH-STYLE BEBE INCISED “116”. On early fully articulated wood and composition body with straight wrists, with hazel paperweight eyes, close mouth with white space in between. This is an exceptional looking German doll mimicking the look of a French bebe, featuring thickly painted feather eyebrows, wearing antique brown mohair wig over plaster pate. Dressed in elaborate red and ivory pleated costume with lace collar, matching red velvet hat and lace trim, black cotton stockings, and black oilcloth shoes with round metallic buckles. CONDITION: Lovely pale bisque, minor color misses on right cheek, body in very good condition with original finish. RS 1-3580 (1,250-1,750)
