RARE ORIGINAL ANTIQUE BARBER OR DENTAL CHAIR. This mid-19th Century innovation is made of walnut and retains its original black horsehair upholstery. From the Eastlake period, it probably dates to around 1870. It is adjustable, and has an adjustable metal mechanism on the side that allows the chair to recline, and once in the fully reclined position, a hidden footrest will swing out. The frame is solid walnut with carved scrolled embellishments on the side. SIZE: Approx. 48″ to the top of the back, and approx. 25″ w. CONDITION: Horsehair upholstery on the front in generally very good condition with a couple small breaks on the end.
