INDEPENDENCE BELL TOY. Attributed to The Gong Bell Co. Another unusually large patriotic bell toy with an ornate base dated 1776-1876 “INDEPENDENCE”. Upon close examination of this toy, one notices that the base consists of two shields connected by stars in the middle. A wire armature suspends the large bell, with an eagle perched atop, to the base. When the toy is pulled along the floor, the rear wheels vigorously rock the bell by means of an interconnected wire. SIZE: 9 1/2”. CONDITION: Overall fine to very fine. JL 1-4085 (1,200-1,500)
