SCARCE “WASHER WOMAN” BY IVES, BLAKESLEE & WILLIAMS CO. A wonderful toy of a black lady and a cast iron wash tub. When the toy is rolled on the ground, she leans to and fro, scrubbing her wash while the bell tolls. On a red enameled base with gold highlighting, the figure, which is of typical Ives construction including the applied brass face, is similar in nature to the “TWILBY” BELL TOY by Ives. SIZE: 7 1/2″. CONDITION: Overall condition is extremely fine, fair amount of paint loss of lady’s brass face. JL 1-4308 (6,000-8,000)
