THREE HORSE TRANSFER WAGON BY DENT HARDWARE COMPANY. Once again, this was a toy from Covert Hegarty’s “load” as discussed in the previous lot. A brown, gray & black horse draw the enameled dark green transfer wagon which is trimmed in gold. A unique feature of this toy is the bowler-hatted, multi-colored gentleman of black ethnicity who is driving. One of the problems Dent Hardware Co. had was with their paint which became very dry and was extremely susceptible to flaking; this is evident by observing this toy and looking at the bray horse, red whiffle tree and red wheels. It is believed that these toys never were played with by children and once found by Covert, only enjoyed by toy collectors. SIZE: 19″ l. CONDITION: Extremely fine original condition, however, toy has flaking and chipping to horses and red trim. JL 1-4141 (2,000-2,500)
