One in blue outfit, the others in red and black, two holding guns. They are leaving a large dock area with two buildings, one being a post office. Two people are seen in large canoe, two people seen on shore, one fishing. A gap in the river shows a large town and church and farmhouse are seen on left bank. INTERESTING ANTIQUE WINDSOR STYLE CANDLESTAND. The round top with molded edge and single bottom cleat. Central turned shaft screws into top and bottom. The bottom with a round base having three incised circles at edge supported by four nicely turned short splay legs. What appears to be its original dark finish. Bottom of stand has old writing “Property of Marie E. Jones, Yuma, AZ Left in care of my cousin …Mrs. Allen 1917 …”. Rare form in desirable condition makes this a very attractive stand. Hood with turned posts and fretwork top that has fourteen pierced cutout stars. Three turned wood finials. The case has fabulous all over alligatored varnish finish. IMPORTANT ESTATE COLLECTION OF 425+ AUTOGRAPHS. The single owner collection was amassed by H. E. Burbank of Augusta, Maine in the 1890’s, mostly 1894 and 1895. Most were provided by the signors as a response to his letter request. They were found loose in a small shirt box with evidence that some were previously `mounted in an album. The signors responded in a variety of ways including hand written letters, notes, poems, music or autographs. It is a capsulation of the important figures of the day. Presently the loose pieces have been placed in four albums contained in see through sleeves. An old list was found in the box but is incomplete. We have gone through and identified approximately half of the signatures and by no means have captured all of the important figures. CONDITION: As noted above. There may be some glue marks that show some wear on the paper but generally the collection is in very good condition. 9-25986 (5,000-10,000)

FRAMED LETTER SIGNED BOB MORRIS, 1799. The brief letter dated January 4 1799 to a Mr. Garrett Cottringer. It is housed in a replacement gilt frame with double matte; along side a picture of Robert Morris. Back side with cutout for letter and back glass. Robert Morris (1734-1806) was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. SIGHT SIZE: Letter is 7-1/2” x 7”. Overall is 18” x 22”. CONDITION: There is a 3/4” x 1/4” hole and related tears. WARREN B. DAVIS (American, 1865-1928) SALMAGUNDI CLUB SIGNED PRESENTATION PRINT. This framed print of a nude woman on hillside (Spirit of Dreams) is pencil inscribed “To Walter Ufer from Samuel T. Shaw Salmagundi Club 1929”. In the bottom white margin “In Memory of Warren B. Davis” under which is signed by approximately fifty different artists in pencil. They include: Walter Ufer, Gordon Grant, Edmund Greacen, J.E. Costigan, Guy Wiggins and many others. An interesting piece of Salmagundi Club history. On the back is a label from De La Pena Books Santa Fe, New Mexico “Presented to Bart Durham April 6, 1981 as a Memento of the Personnel Papers of Walter Ufer, Bought by Steve Good for Rosenstock Arts, Denver, Colorado. SET OF SIX ANTIQUE PAINTED WINDSOR SIDE CHAIRS SIGNED S. KILBURN. Maker Stephen Kilburn (1787-1867). Worked in the village of New London, Huron County, Ohio in 1840 and listed in the American Cabinet Makers book. Each chair retains its original paint decoration with green and yellow highlights on a red background. Each chair is branded S Kilburn. Typical thumb-back Windsor side chairs. On reverse is old description indicating the watercolor is a rendition of the Brunswick, Maine dam and mill on the Androscoggin River. SIGHT SIZE: 14” x 21”. MARSHALL JOHNSON JR. (American, 1850-1921) SCHOONER OFF A RED LIGHTHOUSE. Oil on canvas scene shows a schooner heading out by a large low red building with lighthouse top. Several other sails are seen on a green wavy ocean. Signed lower right “M. Johnson Jr./77”. Housed in a gilt molded wood frame with linen and gold liner. RARE AND OUTSTANDING MAHOGANY CASED TALL CLOCK BY JACOB MAUS, TRENTON. Jacob Maus worked in Philadelphia and Trenton, NJ between 1780-1790. The brass dial with hour, minute and second hands. An oval name plaque says “Jacob Maus Trenton”. Below which is a square hole for date dial. . Back dial with full moon, brass works with bells strike. Weights, key, pendulum and winding key present. The refinished case has tombstone door with molded edge and shaped brass escutcheon plate. The waist having fluted quarter columns, the base with similar columns and central flame grain shaped panel. All supported by four ogee feet. The hood with swan neck pediment with carved floral rosettes, two flame carved side finials with larger central pierce carved finial. Block and turned columns on front of hood, small shaped side windows and quarter columns to back edge. PROVENANCE: From the Bob & Jackie Stewart Collection. PIETER CORNELIS DOMMERSEN (Dutch, 1834-1908) “AMSTERDAM-WINTER”. Large oil on wood panel city street scene in the winter shows a snow covered street with eleven figures showing a man with push sleigh, man with bundle of sticks, women with baskets and man walking with dog beside. Sunlight cascades on sides of buildings under gray cloudy skies with blue breaks. Signed lower right “P.C. D. 73”. Housed in a fine gesso decorated frame. On back of board with a registry F. R. tag indicating artist, title, size and registered number 15956. Also a Findlay Galleries Chicago label. Also a very early owner tag which appears to read “O. J. Morgan Esq. No. 280”. RARE NEW ENGLAND QUEEN ANNE BUILT-IN CUPBOARD. This one piece 18th Century cupboard has open front in two sections. The top section fitted with three shaped shelves, which are fastened with rosehead nails and mortised into back boards. The front face has molded edge with semi-circular top. A central shelf below which is an open area with shaped molded facing with bottom shelf. All supported on cutout legs. Very light white colored wash to surface. The interior sides have simulated molded edge panel and back with similar molding. The back is open which may have had panels or plaster backing. SIZE: 89-1/2” h x 29-1/4” w x 19-1/2” d. CARVED GRANDFATHER CLOCK BY THOMAS ORE. The dial marked “Thos. Ore, Tong” with white enamel paint having flying bird, bow tie, and flowers. Two winding holes and minute dial as well as date dial. The case with tombstone door, bracket cutout base, all over carved which may be of a later date. The removable hood has columns, pediment top with two finials. Brass works with two iron weights and pendulum present. Thomas Ore was a renowned clock maker and was from Birmingham, England. He worked between 1759-1786. PROVENANCE: From the Allen Graves Estate. CIVIL WAR ERA DECORATED DRUM BY WILLIAM SEMPF, NEW YORK. Circa 1860. Inside label “William Sempf Manufacturer of Base and Snare Drums 209 & 211 Grand St, New York…”. An oval stamp is also inside stating “Dixie White Olaf”. This is located on the drum head. There is a pencil signature next to the label “76 TSU”. Outside of the drum has black decoration to the outside wood bands. Central band decorated with eagle and shield. The outside rope appears to have been replaced. The drum was owned by Frank George Horton who was the son of George Horton. Birthplace Cattaraugus County, New York around 1840 and settled in Illinois. It has descended in the family. Frank George Hor ton enlisted June 2, 1862. Discharged September 27, 1862 at the age of 21. 57th Co. Regiment of Illinois Bols Infantry. He re-enlisted for an unknown period of time afterwards. RARE AND UNUSUAL MUG FORM CARVED WOOD BUTTER MOLD. The wood pegged hinged lid in bowl form has large geometric carving with eight petals and center diamond.
