CARL KAHLER (American, 1855-) MY BEST FRIEND. Large oil on canvas portrait of a young girl with her dog. Oil on canvas scene shows a young girl behind her large brown dog which is laying next to a garden pond with pond lily. Framing the two are colorful pink clusters of flowers. Signed lower right. Housed in a gilt gesso decorated frame. On back of canvas is written a poem “Fear not sweet wench, they shall not touch thee Kate _ thee against a million”. SIZE: 26-1/2” x 38-1/2”. CONDITION: As found Estate condition. Needs cleaning. Some consolidation and discolored varnish. One canvas patch to reverse. 9-25788 (3,000-5,000)
