PIETER CORNELIS DOMMERSEN (Dutch, 1834-1908) “AMSTERDAM-WINTER”. Large oil on wood panel city street scene in the winter shows a snow covered street with eleven figures showing a man with push sleigh, man with bundle of sticks, women with baskets and man walking with dog beside. Sunlight cascades on sides of buildings under gray cloudy skies with blue breaks. Signed lower right “P.C. D. 73”. Housed in a fine gesso decorated frame. On back of board with a registry F. R. tag indicating artist, title, size and registered number 15956. Also a Findlay Galleries Chicago label. Also a very early owner tag which appears to read “O. J. Morgan Esq. No. 280”. Also a mahogany panel label of “Geo. Rowney & Co. London”. The artist was known for his realistic street scenes of European cities. SIZE: 24” x 18”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-26118 (10,000-20,000)
