PAIR OF ARCADE MACK DUMP TRUCKS. Mack trucks in Allentown, Pennsylvania produced what is known as Bulldog Mack. Produced in the 1920s and 30s, these trucks were emulated in toy form by many various toy companies. Arcade produced this pair in miniature form and they are most realistic in nature. First is enameled in light blue with nickel plated cast iron wheels. Second truck is enameled in pea green and also has a nickel plated driver and spoked iron wheels. Both vehicles have a spring loaded dump bed feature that flips up and tailgate opens with the flip of a lever. Due to the power of the spring, many of these toys broke, but these two are both intact and free of damage. Both vehicles retain their original Arcade decals and have a small cast iron shovel in their beds. An unusual size for these vehicles as they are usually bigger or smaller. SIZE: Each is 8-1/4″ l. PROVENANCE: John F. Gale Collection, Cambridge, MA. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. 1-12408-24 (650-950)

BIAGGI O-GAUGE “COCK O’ THE NORTH” ENGINE & TENDER. Of Italian manufacture, this particular electric engine is relatively rare and the primary market focus was for the English train enthusiast. An electric engine with a 2-8-2 wheel configuration, this train ran on 3-rail track. Perhaps one of the most interesting features of this train is the fascinating Caprotti valve gears along the front end of the loco behind the steam chest. “Cock o’ the North” was one of the many engines operated on the London Northern England Railroad (LNER). The train itself, circa 1950s appears to have had minimal usage as very little wear is evident on wheels or electric engine receptors. Original Biaggi decals are intact on engine cab, steam chest, and tender. SIZE: 29-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Overall very fine to near mint, a light cleaning/polishing would bring out the vibrancy of the green and black paint, making this a most stunning piece. 1-12490 (3,000-5,000)

GERMAN INDIAN SKITTLES CONTAINER WITH BRAVES. Without a doubt, of all the various German skittles (AKA 9-pins), this particular example is the most visually stunning and aesthetically appealing. The chief in full headdress with braided hair cascading down either side of his face is bare chested with Indian jewelry and simulated leggings with feather adornments. Perhaps one of the largest of all 9-pins containers (approximately 29″ l.) his open cutaway back would contain the various Indian themed pins. Obviously the kingpin was the chief with full headdress cascading down his back. Polychromed in vibrant colors with exceptionally intricate molding to the facial features make this a piece that all who see are sure to comment on. Retaining original paper label on underside marked “Made in Germany” with most likely a six digit product number. Stamped tin wheels allow this toy to function not only as a 9-pins container, but one for a child to pull along the floor. The Indian pins themselves are affixed to wooden platforms, and when set up in a V-formation, the child would roll the ball to knock over as many as he could. Due to the frailty and size of these toys, it’s amazing that they have survived and still remain structurally sound and overall in excellent condition. This is one of only a few known examples in existence today. In as-found, untouched condition, a light cleaning would surely bring out the luster of the paint and make this toy even more vibrant. SIZE: 29″ l. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus, some paint loss/wear especially noticeable to a couple of the feathers in the headdress. Overall paint is largely intact with no restoration and/or repairs. 1-12473 (15,000-25,000)

FABULOUS ROOSTER SKITTLE SET. Extremely large brightly multi-colored papier mache rooster with glass eyes riding on four cast iron wheels painted gold cradling a nine pin set in the form of chicks. Chicks are dressed as clowns; they are nestled in the rooster in the original excelsior. Breathtaking set of skittles. The set looks like it has hardly ever been played with if at all. SIZE: 19-1/2″ l x 15-1/2″ t. CONDITION: The rooster’s colors are bright and vibrant shows almost no wear. Typically these delicate works of art exhibit considerable damage, however, this example is simply extraordinary. A couple of minor chips on one side and a slight old crack on the left side. The Peeps are dirty but most are in near excellent condition. One would be hard pressed to find a better example. If you need a skittle this is the one. 1-12471 (8,000-10,000)

GERMAN CAMEL SKITTLE SET. An outstanding example of one of the several elaborate skittle sets produced in Germany during the early 20th century. Great detailing on the camel container with his back open to contain the nine pins. The camel in a lying position has what would be thought of as normal Middle Eastern drapings upon his back. The various figures themselves seem to be an odd mix but more than likely correct for this container. There is an Oriental gentleman, a Turkish gentleman, Scottish gentleman, Mexican gentleman, Spanish gentleman, Russian gentleman, Arab gentleman, Greek gentleman and a French woman aka “the queen pin”. SIZE: Approx. 19″ l. Figures are approx. 10-1/2″ t. CONDITION: Overall very good plus. Some inpainting to camels as well as figures. Wheels on camel appear to be replacements; one original wheel present. 1-12474 (4,000-6,000)

GERMAN SHEPHERD SKITTLES. A very well detailed German Shepherd with an open back containing eight assorted animals pins and the ninth pin being a clown aka “the king pin”. Most likely of a later period from other well known German skittle sets. Although the detailing to the container itself is excellent, the overall finish is different and not as elaborate or refined. Definitely an original paint finish which is more flat in nature than other earlier sets which have a high gloss finish. Still an interesting piece and a nice addition to any collection. A unique feature of this particular set are all the animals are glass eyed. SIZE: 21″ l. CONDITION: Overall very good. Some of the animals show a fair amount of wear, most likely from use. 1-12472 (2,500-3,500)

5 CENT PACE “FANCY FRONT” COMET SLOT MACHINE. Pace produced several versions of the Comet. This particular example is from the 1930s and has elaborate fanciful aluminum front castings, which are often highlighted by bright colors. A goose neck style mechanism, Pace created a rotary disc similar to a Watling Rol-a-Top, which allowed the player and operator to view the last several coins played. Twin jackpots, so that if one was hit, the prospective gambler could still play in hopes of hitting the alternate jackpot. Pace quite possibly invented the concept of alternating jackpots to entice further play as no one would have interest in playing a machine with an empty jackpot window. An ingenious feature. Overall a nice older restoration with what appears to be all original parts including slide behind goose neck, reel strips, back door, etc. SIZE: 16″ w x 15″ d x 24″ h. CONDITION: Overall very good functional working order in need of minor lubrication and fine tuning. Original Pace lock with keys is included (in cash box needs to be reattached to back door with two carriage bolts. 1-12271 (750-1,000)

DESIRABLE 18″ MUNICH ART GIRL CHARACTER DOLL. Munich Art dolls were produced during the earlier part of the 20th century by Marion Kaulitz. Long associated with the famed Kammer & Reinhardt Doll Company, oftentimes there is a striking resemblance between the Munich Art dolls & the K*R character dolls. The Munich Art dolls were somewhat simplistic in facial painting and head construction (a composition of sorts), they utilized a variety of German ball jointed composition doll bodies, this particular model is on a fully jointed marked Kestner body. Today these dolls are highly sought after by collectors not only for their rarity but charm as well. She has dark hair, facial coloring and her high waisted dress, she appears to be in original condition with regards to her facial painting and clothing. A very nice example with a somewhat different facial expression than other examples that have surfaced more recently. SIZE: 18″ h. CONDITION: Overall in very fine condition with only a small paint chip to her lower lip and a ding/chip to the tip of her nose. 1-12566 (3,500-6,500)
