5 CENT PACE “FANCY FRONT” COMET SLOT MACHINE. Pace produced several versions of the Comet. This particular example is from the 1930s and has elaborate fanciful aluminum front castings, which are often highlighted by bright colors. A goose neck style mechanism, Pace created a rotary disc similar to a Watling Rol-a-Top, which allowed the player and operator to view the last several coins played. Twin jackpots, so that if one was hit, the prospective gambler could still play in hopes of hitting the alternate jackpot. Pace quite possibly invented the concept of alternating jackpots to entice further play as no one would have interest in playing a machine with an empty jackpot window. An ingenious feature. Overall a nice older restoration with what appears to be all original parts including slide behind goose neck, reel strips, back door, etc. SIZE: 16″ w x 15″ d x 24″ h. CONDITION: Overall very good functional working order in need of minor lubrication and fine tuning. Original Pace lock with keys is included (in cash box needs to be reattached to back door with two carriage bolts. 1-12271 (750-1,000)
