Additional Information: We’ve been asked if the skittles are the exact original ones that came with this exact container. There is no way we can guarantee this, they are antique and of the correct style and are a spectacular set. GERMAN INDIAN SKITTLES CONTAINER WITH BRAVES. Without a doubt, of all the various German skittles (AKA 9-pins), this particular example is the most visually stunning and aesthetically appealing. The chief in full headdress with braided hair cascading down either side of his face is bare chested with Indian jewelry and simulated leggings with feather adornments. Perhaps one of the largest of all 9-pins containers (approximately 29″ l.) his open cutaway back would contain the various Indian themed pins. Obviously the kingpin was the chief with full headdress cascading down his back. Polychromed in vibrant colors with exceptionally intricate molding to the facial features make this a piece that all who see are sure to comment on. Retaining original paper label on underside marked “Made in Germany” with most likely a six digit product number. Stamped tin wheels allow this toy to function not only as a 9-pins container, but one for a child to pull along the floor. The Indian pins themselves are affixed to wooden platforms, and when set up in a V-formation, the child would roll the ball to knock over as many as he could. Due to the frailty and size of these toys, it’s amazing that they have survived and still remain structurally sound and overall in excellent condition. This is one of only a few known examples in existence today. In as-found, untouched condition, a light cleaning would surely bring out the luster of the paint and make this toy even more vibrant. SIZE: 29″ l. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus, some paint loss/wear especially noticeable to a couple of the feathers in the headdress. Overall paint is largely intact with no restoration and/or repairs. 1-12473 (15,000-25,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2012 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
