Additional Information: Upper body has been repainted. CARVED ENGLISH WOODEN DOLL FROM WILLIAM & MARY PERIOD. Late 17th Century wooden doll with one piece head, torso and hips with articulation at the hips and knees. The upper arms are cloth and lower arms are carved wood with individually carved fingers. The head has typically painted long arched eyebrows with tiny dots above and the eyelashes are painted in the similar manner. Ears show great detail with indented ear canals. The mouth is three dimensional with individually painted lips and cheeks are typically highly rouged. There is a black painted beauty spot on the forehead and the lower legs are painted black. The only clothing is a rose colored brocade skirt with cloth flowers and silver braid trim. There are some pieces of lace covering the joint at the elbow. SIZE: 19″ (48cm).
