*REVIVAL OF AN OLD CONCEPT, METICULOUSLY CRAFTED 28 GAUGE ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI QUATTROCANNONE WITH SCROLL BY BRUNO GOLDANI, AND FINE BULINO WORK BY ANGELO GALEAZZI, WITH CASE AND ACCESSORIES.
SN 399. Cal. 28 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. Four bbl cluster, with slightly swamped game rib with dolls head extension, is engraved “Abbiatico & Salvinelli” on top of upper left bbl. Bbl flats are stamped with 1981 Italian nitro proofs and with first names of craftsmen involved in building this fine, intricate gun, including Dante, Poli, Mario, Remo, Tony, and Gian. Coin finished sidelock/ boxlock action with non-automatic safety and single non-selective trigger (firing all four bbls), is fitted with hammer sidelocks. Tall serpentine hammers are nicely filed. Tall four bbl fences are also intricately sculpted with tops of fences in oval pattern. This interesting mechanism fires all four bbls in succession when hammers are cocked, with upper right first, upper left second, lower right third, and lower left fourth. If the hammers are not cocked, the action acts as a normal side by side boxlock, firing right then left bottom bbls. Action is engraved with areas of well cut scroll surrounding nicely detailed Bulino game scenes on sides and bottom; a pointer points a trio of grouse flushing from hillside on left lock, and another pointer points a trio of Hungarian partridge on right. Bottom of action shows a pair of red grouse taking wing from heather with open moorland in background. Scroll is by Bruno Goldani, whose signature appears on trigger plate, and the fine Bulino work is by Angelo Galeazzi whose signature is at the bottom of each scene. Scroll engraved trigger guard has gold armorial shield on bow, and SN on tang. Top tang of action is gold inlaid “7/15″ indicating that this is the 7th gun of a run of 15 made.
