*OUTSTANDING WALTHER SILVER PLATED ENGRAVED P38 9MM PISTOL WITH CASE.

SN 304155. Cal. 9mm. 5″ bbl. Standard markings. This is a postwar made gun, dated 67 on left trigger guard web. Beautifully engraved with oak leaf pattern. Silver plated. Appears to be factory. Black plastic checkered grips. All external numbers match. Alloy frame. Both mags are silver plated, one is banner Walther P38 marked, the other is banner Walther P1 marked, both have engraved floorplates. Accompanied by dark blue leatherette case with banner Walther on red satin interior lid lining. PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. SN 2780C. Cal. 9mm. 5″ bbl. Standard markings. Chocolate Bakelite grips. Proper phosphate slide release lever, mag catch, firing pin cover, extractor and trigger bar. All matching numbers. Both mags are AC marked. Accompanied by orig SN matching cardboard box, very rare steel cleaning rod, aluminum cleaning kit box, manual. “Boxes were used to contain P38s meant for sale to individual military or other authorized personnel”, according to Warren Buxton on p. 230 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III. PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine with minute handling marks. All markings crisp and clear. Bore is bright with sharp rifling and light coat of factory grease. Mechanics are crisp; this gun appears unfired. Grips are excellent. Mags do not have any wear on followers. We are unable to find the corresponding picture in the book. Accompanied by black leather clam shell holster marked on back “dta/42”, inspector’s marking is weak and illegible, “P38”. SN 5652B. Cal. 9mm. 4″ bbl. Matte blue finish with brown Bakelite grips. Eagle 359 proofed. Relatively late production with secondary polish and finish for war expediency. JVD manufactured magazine. Spare magazine is sterile with no maker’s mark or proofs but appears to be of wartime manufacture. 1944 manufactured clam shell holster. WaA608 inspected but inspector is indiscernible. CONDITION: Very good overall with typical finish loss at muzzle and typical loss at sides of slide and front strap from holster carry. All visible numbers are matching including locking toggle. SN 7851. Cal. 9mm. 5″ bbl. Standard markings on left and right sides of slide. Postwar commercial Crown/N proof on top left side of slide, and under bbl. East German sunburst proof on left trigger guard web. Orig SN on left side of frame was ground off by the East Germans with matching number to slide applied. Postwar commercial bbl is matching. The right grip is chocolate Bakelite, the left grip appears to be East German green plastic. This gun is described on p. 34, pictured on p. 36 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. “jvd”, “P.38/U” marked mag with non-matching SN on floorplate. 1) WALTHER HP. SN 8440. Cal. 9mm. 5″ bbl. This gun was assembled postwar from a mixture of parts. The right side of trigger guard web is marked with the enigmatic “VK” in a circle stamp. There are no markings on the right side of slide, having been removed during the rebuild. The left side of slide retains the orig early Walther markings. The orig slide SN is present on the upper right flat. Frame was originally made by Spreewerke with eagle 88 inspector mark. Bbl, slide and frame have all been renumbered to match. Brown Bakelite grips. This gun is described on p. 111 and pictured on p. 113 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by brown leather clam shell holster marked on back “ndk” in an oval, eagle WaA77, “44” in a circle, “P38″ in an oval. British proofed on left side of frame, slide and top of bbl. All external numbers matching. Dark Bakelite grips. Mag marked with circled KK-10 mark, and non-matching SN electric penciled on spine.
