1) MAUSER P38. SN 7276F. Cal. 9mm. 5″ bbl. Standard markings on slide, with unusual cross like symbol on right side. The meaning of this symbol is unknown. Eagle 135 inspected. Matching SN’s on slide, frame and bbl. Chocolate Bakelite grips. “jvd” marked mag. This gun is described on p. 101, pictured on p.103 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. II by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by black leather clam shell holster, marked on back “M” eagle swastika “III/8″/ “P38″/WaA102, “E1160”. PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Good condition, finish wear on high points, worn off front strap. All markings clear. Grips have light dings and handling marks. Bore has light pitting with strong rifling. Fine mechanical function. Holster is solid with light scuff marks, showing wear. Evidence of being restitched in several areas. C&R 2) MAUSER P38. SN 9739P. Cal. 9mm. 5″ bbl. Standard markings on gun. Eagle 135 inspected. All external numbers match. Black Bakelite grips. This gun is described on p. 21, pictured p. 22, of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. II by Warren Buxton. Eagle 88 marked mag. Accompanied by black leather flap holster. Ink stamp inside flap is illegible. PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Very good, with finish wear on high points, front strap, top of bbl. Some very light surface rust in a few areas. All markings clear. Grips have light handling marks.
