SN 2451. Cal. 12 ga. 30″ fluid steel bbls. 2-3/4″ chambers. Choked Mod/Full. Full length matted top rib with steel mid bid and brass front bead. Muzzles and breech are nicely scroll engraved. Miller sgl selective trigger, auto ejectors, non-auto safety. Fabulous flame grain American Walnut buttstock checkered in three-point pattern with teardrops on bottom of grip and 14-1/2″ LOP over black “Olde English” pad. Round nose forearm checkered in five-point pattern with Deeley release. Receiver is fully and finely engraved with very lifelike dogs – a pointer and setter on each side surrounded by well executed Runge scroll work. Also a small quarter sized game scene at back of frame with woodcock on right, quail on left. Bottom of frame fully scroll engraved with flying pheasants in farm scene and marked “Remington / Model 32TF”. Weight: 8 lbs. 5 oz. PROVENANCE: The Forest R. Marshall Collection. SN 18818. Cal. 12ga. 28″ plain bbl, full choke, single silver sighting bead. Manufacturers legend is hand engraved on the top side of the bbl near breach and is bracketed by flowing foliate scroll work. Classic “humpback” receiver is engraved on all sided with intermediate relief scroll work and geometric patterns, with single Mallard game scene vignette in oval on left side. Appended metal is similarly engraved. High grade 2-pc walnut stock features multi point checkering and a vacant silver initial oval on toe line. 14-1/4″ LOP to a factory hard rubber buttplate. CONDITION: Very good plus. Gun retains 90-95% of its orig factory blue finish, with light scattered handling marks and some high edge wear. Wood is sound and retains most of its lustrous factory finish with numerous light to moderate handling marks, dents and scraps from field use. SN 5643. Cal 12 ga. 30″ Crown steel bbls with 2-3/4″ chambers. Choked Full/Full. Full length tapered matted top rib with replaced front brass bead. Dbl triggers, auto ejectors, no safety. Capped full pistol grip buttstock checkered in two-point pattern with 14-1/4″ LOP over replacement serrated lined HRBP. Splinter forearm checkered in three-point pattern with banjo roll type release and triangular ebony tip. Receiver is lightly scroll engraved with woodcock on right, quail on left and marked “L.C. Smith” on both sides. Trigger guard with small burst of scroll on bow and inscription on inner part of bow “CAPT A.H. BOGARDUS”. Back trigger guard tang screw is a replacement. Weight: 7 lbs. 9 oz. CONDITION: About good having potentially seen many years of service in competitive shooting. Bbls retain nearly all of a recently restored blued finish. Gold bar near muzzle end of top rib shows losses. Section of bottom rib in between flats and lug is absent. Receiver is grey with staining and shows a hint or two of case color in protected areas. Forearm is fair checkering mostly visible with scattered bumps and bruises showing heavy wear over many years of service. Buttstock is good, with old repair through the wrist. Checkering re-cut years ago and retains most of its older restored finish. Bottom to stock fingers show oil infiltrating into stock and drying. Mechanics are good as are bores with scattered minor pitting. Forearm is a touch loose. This exact gun is pictured on pg 87 of “L.C. Smith The Legend Lives” by John Houchins. Unengraved frame stamped “L.C. Smith” both sides. Weight: 7 lbs. 14 oz. PROVENANCE: The William Hammond Collection. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, near mint and likely test fired only. Bbls retain nearly all their orig blued finish with a couple of minute spots of toning. Accompanied by factory letter which describes the gun being orig ordered with both sets of bbls. It was finished on December 13, 1929. According to the records, only 34 Trap Grades were shipped with a second set of factory bbls. PROVENANCE: The L.C. Smith Collection of Gerald Basham. CONDITION: Excellent. This rare factory two barrel set has remained in very nice mostly orig condition. 32″ bbls retain most of orig blue which is thinning in spots, no dings or dents. Bores are bright and unpitted. 28″ bbls retain majority of blue, thinning at muzzles, assorted handling marks from use, thinning slightly at breeches. Once again 2nd bbls are undented and bores are bright and unpitted. Each set of bbls has its correct matching forend, second forend marked “2” on underside. Receiver is nice, areas of color in protected areas. Slight areas of oxidation on breech balls. Engraving is sharp. Screws are very clean. Trigger bow retains most of its orig bright blue. Both forends and buttstock remain in very nice condition with assorted minor handling marks from use. May have at one time had finish added. All checkering is prominent. All wood is sound, fits nicely and with no typical cracks. This gun is tight and functions crisply, ejectors are strong. Top lever is to the right. FULTON N.Y.” with gold bar near breech. Dbl triggers, auto ejectors, auto safety. Capped full pistol buttstock, checkered in 2-pt pattern with brass oval near grip cap marked “RUTLEDGE I. ODELL TO WILLIAM B. HO…” (remainder obliterated). 14″ LOP over serrated line HRBP. Splinter forearm with banjo roll-type release and ebony tip is near fully checkered. Receiver is engraved in typical early Grade 5 pattern with setters on left, pointers on right in game scene surrounded by well executed floral and scroll engraving. Bottom of receiver with beautiful floral bouquet and trigger guard bow with same. Small wedge of scroll at breech. Both lockplates marked “L.C. Smith” in banner and gold “S” on top tang for three position safety. Most likely engraved by Frank Mason. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain approx 98% vivid chain Damascus pattern which is bold and striking. Receiver retains approx 30-40% orig case colors that is somewhat hidden by engraving and lightly toned at bottom. Buttstock and forearm are excellent with minor scratches and retain most of their orig finish with a coat of finish added for preservation. Trigger guard has toned to a dark brown. Minute grain separation behind left lock, otherwise stocks are sound. Mechanics are crisp. Bores are bright and shiny with minor orange peel. RARE MERIDEN MFG T-LATCH SHOTGUN AND A TRIPLETT & SCOTT RIFLE – THE EARLY PRODUCTS OF CHARLES PARKER SOLD TOGETHER FOR A DISCERNING COLLECTOR.

SN 419/ 1435. 1) 12 gauge, 28″ decarbonized steel bbl. Full length plain top rib with brass front bead. Lockplates lightly scroll engraved and marked “Meriden Man’fg Co./Meriden, Conn./For/Chas. Parker.”Straight grip buttstock nicely checkered with long trigger guard tang and full steel buttplate. This gun is a bar in wood action with “T-latch” lock on top tang. This is one of the first shotguns manufactured by Charles Parker under the Meriden Manufacturing Company name. The upper tang is marked “PATENTED NOV 13,1866”. The forearm is plain and attached to the underside of the barrel by a single screw. 2) Cal. 50 RF. Rare Civil War era repeating carbine with 30″ rnd bbl, pinched blade front sight & small ladder rear sight. Left side of breech block is marked “KENTUCKY”. It has usual company markings on receiver & top tang. Magazine tube is located on left lower side of receiver and extends down into buttstock. In addition this unusual carbine has two sling swivels at heel & toe of stock. Mounted with uncheckered American walnut with rnd forearm & straight stock with carbine buttplate. About 3,000 of these carbines with this bbl length were purchased by the State of Kentucky to arm the Kentucky Home Guard to protect supply lines for Sherman during his Atlanta campaign. They arrived too late to see Civil War service. CONDITION: 1) Very good. All metal surfaces have a mottled brownish/gray patina with dings/bulge on top of the barrels at the breech. The wood is good overall having been re-varnished some time ago and there is cracking on the bottom of the stock ahead of the trigger guard, a repair behind the right lock and some age cracks on the bottom right side which have been filled. The checkering is worn smooth. Action is loose. Bores are fair, with scattered pitting throughout. Front trigger is an old replacement. Very rare and collectible. 2) Very fine. Bbl & breechblock retain 85% strong orig blue and receiver and some of its orig case hardening, perhaps as much as 40% overall. Stock are excellent.
