RARE GOLD AND SILVER MOUNTED OTTOMAN OVER/UNDER FLINTLOCK PISTOL, CIRCA 1825.

SN NA. Cal. 28 bore, 0.56″. 18″ overall with 11-1/2″ cannon muzzle bbls with gold inset decorations and proofs at breech. Mountings are silver with cast relief design. Stocks are fine silver wire inset. Lock is unique design with sliding pans to ignite the upper and lower bbls. CONDITION: Very good to fine overall. Bbls retain much of a thin blue finish retaining most of their gold inlay with wear and light reductions. Proofs and other markings discernible. Silver mounts are fine with good detail and gray patina. A few silver wire insets are missing but 98% intact. Stock is sound and solid with good edges, hand-worn patina. FINE PAIR OF GILT METAL STOCKED BALKAN FLINTLOCK PISTOLS WITH NIELLO ENAMEL, CIRCA 1820.

NSN. Cal. 20 bore. This elegant pair of pistols measure about 17″ overall with 10-1/2″ bbls, relief engraved with makers marks at breech. Stocks retain much of their orig gilt and niello enamel. CONDITION: Very good overall, steel is gray overall with staining and pitting, stocks retain about 70-80% gilt with balance dark mustard/chocolate patina with much of the dark enamel retained. One pistol mechanics are fine, the second will not hold on full cock and needs attention. NSN. Cal. 60. 20″ overall 12-7/8″ slightly swamped engraved bbl with makers marks inset at breech. Guns retain most of their orig gilt to the ornate relief design which include several panoplies of arms. CONDITION: Very good to fine overall, traces of blue found on one bbl, steel overall is gray with staining and pinprick pitting. ELEGANT PAIR OF SILVER MOUNTED 18TH CENTURY OTTOMAN FLINTLOCK PISTOLS.

NSN. 58 cal. 18″ overall. 2-stage 12 3/8″ two-stage bbls decorated with multiple Fleur-de-lis. Beveled locks with chiseled design and matching relief chiseled serpentine cocks. Guns are profusely decorated with silver hallmarked mounts, possibly Turkish. Trigger guards, lock escutcheons and butt caps have relief detail of panoplies of arms. This is a type of pistol is often associated with Barbary Coast pirates. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Both guns appear orig with some restoration to breaks in silver. Stocks are both sound with several reductions, one long sliver missing forward of lock on one gun. Some of the silver wire is missing but all in all an honest pair with hand worn patina. SN NA. Cal. 28 bore. 23-1/4″ overall. 12-1/4″ bbl with light engraving and makers cartouches at breech. Unique long tailed Albanian-style relief cast silver plated metal stock is not often seen. CONDITION: Very good overall. Gun appears orig and complete with addition of restored screws and cock. Steel has a plum/gray patina with pitting. Stock has a overall dark gray/brass patina. MATCHED PAIR OF ANTONIS GUISASOLA FLINTLOCK MIGUELET BELT PISTOLS.

SN NA. Cal. about 66. Bbls are 6-3/4″ with oct shanks and faceted transitions to rnd forward portion with flared cannon muzzles. Both bbls have smooth bores. Bbl flats transitions and top tang have gold-filled, vine type scrolled engraving and proof marks. Gold proof on top flat as crowned over “ANT/GUI/SAS/OLA.” Lock plates are marked “Ant./Guisasola.” Lock plates, hammers and frizzens are engraved. Pans are gold-lined. Plain triggers. Pin fastened, rnd butt walnut stocks with French checkered wrists. Engraved iron fittings include buttcap with back strap that extends to top tang. Trigger guard with fancy finial, side plate and nose cap. Side plates have integral 3-3/4″ iron belt hooks. Hardwood ramrods have horn trumpet tips. One has patch screw on opposite end, the other is broken. CONDITION: Both are very good. Metal finish has faded to gray with some very light pitting. Bbl markings are missing some gold filling. Stocks have added finish over scratches and handling marks with some very small cracks and chips in lock and side plate areas. Mechanics are fine. PAIR OF SPANISH MIQUELET PISTOLS BY VILARDELL.

NSN. Cal. .650. 7-1/2″ Octagon to round bbls with cannon muzzles have bbl maker proofs on top flat and silver inlaid decoration. Miquelet locks with good quality semi-relief scroll engraving are marked “VILARDELL”. European walnut stocks with flared checkered grips extend to within 1/2″ of muzzles and are steel mounted. CONDITION: Good. Metal cleaned to bright polish over scattered pitting. Stocks have old refinish, appear sound, with some loss of wood near trigger guard finials. FINE TUSCO-EMILIAN 38 BORE SNAPHAUNCE HOLSTER PISTOL

NSN. Cal 38 bore 0.50″. This elegant Central Italian pistol circa 1770 measures 15-1/4″ overall with 10″ multi-stage bbl with relief engraving en suite to engraved lock and battery. Frizzen is chiseled in shape of a gaping dragon. Gun is brass mounted with engraved and pierced mounts with three silver inset faces on thumbplate, buttcap and trigger guard. Stock is finely relief carved with geometric, figural and a coat of arms consisting of castle above a star in a 1-3/4″ oval. This gun is not far removed from aesthetics and quality and compares to the pair shown on page 61 of Merrill Lindsay’s text 100 Great Guns, 1967. CONDITION: Fine overall. Gun appears complete and orig. Steel is overall gray patina with staining and pitting especially at breech. Brass mounts retain traces of gilt in protected areas. Silver masks are very good with good detail, some wear to high areas and scuffing as expected. Stock has hand-worn patina, sharp edges and well discerned light incised decoration. 4″ belt hook is complete. NSN. Cal. 56. This elegant pistol measures 20″ overall with 14″ cannon muzzle bbl with relief carving and gold inlay mounted on Circassian walnut with beautiful grain. CONDITION: Very good to fine overall. Steel has a mottled gray patina with some wear to gold inlays especially on bottom of muzzle and left side of spherical steel butt. Over 95% of gold decoration is retained. Engraved sheet silver nosecap and lock shroud have silver/gray patina. Stock is sound with hand-worn patina. Overall steel mostly smooth with staining, mounts are well fit with good detail and overall gray patina. Apparent old hairline repair forward of lock with varnish finish. Mechanics are fine. RARE AND FINE STEEL MOUNTED GERMAN WHEELOCK HUNTING RIFLE, 18TH CENTURY BY ANTONIO BAUMAN, MUNICH.

NSN. 46″ overall with 35″ swamped bbl with adjustable rear sight engraved with gold inset maker’s mark. Stock is beautifully rococo carved and steel mountings are beautifully engraved as can be seen in photos. Stock maker’s cartouche is found on bottom of buttstock. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Very good to fine overall. Metal is smooth and gray overall with some wear to engraved panel, but all in all an exemplary and much better than average example. GERMAN WHEELOCK RIFLE WITH RAISED CARVED RELIEF STOCK.

NSN. Cal. 64. 41-1/2″ overall. Chiseled iron lock and engraved brass mounts date late 17th century, the stock is later. Maker’s mark on bbl is indiscernible. Gun is beautifully embellished with chiseled and engraved animals and hunting scenes. Scrimshawed stag horn inlays are found in butt. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Metal cleaned in the European style. Lock exhibits heavy pitting, but appears functional and complete as mounted from composition components. GERMAN 18TH CENTURY ROYAL GRADE FLINTLOCK JAEGER RIFLE WITH FINE ENGRAVED BRASS MOUNTINGS AND CARVED STOCK.

NSN. Cal. 58. 47-3/4″ overall, 34″ oct Damascus bbl with deep 7-groove rifling and 2-leaf adjustable rear sight. Rifle is beautifully adorned with engraved and pierced brass trim as can be seen in photos. Raised wood patchbox identically trimmed. Forestock has carved border along ramrod channel and relief carving rear of bbl tang. CONDITION: Very good overall as apparently reconverted back to flint, though pan, frizzen and spring may be orig. Cock and cock screw are restored. Stock appears sound and orig with possible inset restoration just forward of lock, though gun was not disassembled for inspection. Several small insets missing and a few pieces have lost their pins and are loose on left side of buttstock as can be seen in photos. ATTRACTIVE CONTINENTAL DOGLOCK.

NSN. Cal. 72. (.790 Bore diameter). 33″ Military type round bbl has crown initials “NI” at rear. Round bodied lock with bridled friction frizzen has folding dog engaging deep notch in cock. Furniture is of brass. Nicely figured fruitwood swan neck stock extends to muzzle and has relief carving behind tang and around cheekpiece. Grip is checkered and a long slim patchbox is on right side. Left side of breech area is marked “P*B” ? “1832”. CONDITION: Good. Iron parts gray to brown patina. Brass cleaned and toned to gold. NSN. Cal. 69. 57-1/2″ over with 42″ smooth bore bbl. Bbl and lock both marked with unknown proofs. Pinned full length stock with wooden ramrod with iron tip, simple iron mountings. Linstock w/ brass lion’s head ornamentation and measures approx. 50.5″ overall. CONDITION: Metal is cleaned to bright overall with light pitting and staining. Stock is solid and sound with 90% old lacquered finish. Good bore. Trigger is loose, otherwise gun appears complete. Mechanics need attention, sold as is. TWO DECORATED 19TH CENTURY PERCUSSION MUSKETS.

1) EUROPEAN PERCUSSION. NSN. Cal. 70. 49-1/2″ overall, 34-1/4″ oct-rnd bbl with long range rear sight and 3 brass bands. Buttstock is relief carved in Germanic style of leaping stag. Lock and brass lock escutcheon have numerous small pinned silver leaf decoration which only a few remain as can be seen in photos. Bbl proofs and lock markings appear Leige but not totally discernible. CONDITION: Good overall. Bbl and lock are a mottled grey with pitting. Brass has light mustard patina. Stock is sound and solid with several cracks in forestock. Sling swivel stud in buttstock has been filled. Thumbplate missing as are the small silver leaf insets as noted. Mechanics need attention with smooth pitted bore. 2) EUROPEAN RIFLE. NSN. Cal. 70. Unusual maple stocked and Germanic style relief carved, “J. E. VASLI” marked stock, 11-1/2-lb, oct brass breeched rnd bbl with brass trimmed cannon muzzle with deep 7-groove rifling. Gun was originally flint and was converted to percussion with new breech. No provision for buttplate. Trigger guard and ramrod thimbles are simple sheet iron. CONDITION: Good overall as configured, missing bbl pins so stock is a loose from bbl. 1) EUROPEAN CONVERSION. NSN. Cal. 58. Drum percussion conversion 56-3/4″ overall, 42″ rnd bbl, brass mounted with Ketland lock. CONDITION: Fair to good overall. Iron is cleaned with dark patina with pitting. Brass is cleaned with medium mustard patina. Stock is shattered near muzzle with about a 10″ long sliver reduction on right side. Mechanics need attention. 2) NEW YORK FLINTLOCK FOWLER. NSN. Cal. 70. 53-1/2″ overall, 38-1/2″ rnd bbl with partial makers mark and “N.YORK”. Lock and cock engraved, “Crown / M” proof. Brass mounted with small silver thumbplate. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Iron is a mottled grey patina. Brass is a light mustard patina. 1) EUROPEAN DBL FLINTLOCK. NSN. Cal. 20 ga. 54″ overall, 39″ side-by-side flintlock bbls with partially discernible European proofs, mounted with relief cast mountings and buttstock is carved with bearded figure with glass eyes. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Appears orig with old repair at wrist, otherwise stock is sound with varnished surface with craquelure and hand worn patina. Steel bbls and locks are grey/bright with fine pitting. Right lock functional, left lock needs attention. Smooth clear bores. 2) EUROPEAN PETITE FLINTLOCK RIFLE. NSN. Cal. 11mm (56 bore). 39-1/2″ overall, 26-1/2″ 2-stage bbl with date engraved “1672”. Brass mounted including fixed rear and front blade sights. This diminutive Fowler was likely made for a child. CONDITION: Good overall. Iron is mottled grey overall. Brass mounts have light mustard patina including replaced sideplate. Stock is sound with old cleaning. Crack at forend and 1/2 chip. TWO UNASSOCIATED 19TH CENTURY LONGARMS.

1) 56 KY. NSN. Cal. 35. 58″ overall with 42″ octagonal bbl. Full stock Kentucky rifle, iron and brass mounted. This is an honest example of a working man’s gun that would have been used in 19th century America to protect the cabin, shoot small game and other sundry uses. Gun is well used, simply made without provision for patchbox. Single screw lock escutcheon. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Reconversion with added hammer and frizzen and lock screw. Stock is fairly sound but with several old repairs. Perfect decoration for your 19th century cabin. 2) 67 CARBINE. NSN. Cal. 70. 36-1/2″ overall with 21-1/2″ bbl. Tanner-Liege imported saddle ring carbine with spurious Confederate markings, “CO B 12th VIRGINIA” and “C.S.” with a battle flag. SN NSN/NSN. Cal. 59. 5″ Deeply swamped octagon bbls have gold damascened bands around muzzles and crowned “M” proofs on left sides of breech ends. Unmarked locks are fitted with flat faced hammers. All furniture is of steel, flush mounted, and of fancy outline. Flared checkered grips have steel caps, engraved with monogram “NR” (?) Stocks extend to muzzles. Horn ramrods have lighter colored horn tips and steel tails, one with worm. CONDITION: Good. Bbls retain a considerable amount of old brown. Locks and steel furniture are silver gray fading to brown. 1) LIEGE PISTOL. NSN. Cal. 69. 15″ overall, 9″ Liege proofed bbl with unmarked percussion lock. Brass mounted other than bbl band which was taken from a Springfield musket. CONDITION: Good to very good as configured. Mechanics are fine, smooth pitted bore. 2) FRENCH FLOBERT. SN 200. Cal. 22. Flobert parlor pistol with carved stock and engraved plated mounts. 14-1/2″ overall, 9″ bbl. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Bbl has heat scale and pitting. Mechanics are fine with clear bore. 3) ITALIAN FISH TAIL. NSN. Cal. 20 bore. Percussion conversion of circa 1770 Italian fishtail flintlock pistol. 14-1/2″ overall, 8″ multi-stage bbl. GROUP OF SIX EARLY EUROPEAN POWDER FLASKS.

Four flasks are flattened horn for wheelocks and iron and brass mounted. Circular donut flask also of wheelock era is brass and bone mounted. Small silver mounted flask also appears early with thistle decoration. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Three of the wheelock flasks are good to very good and appear as made with iron patina, smooth to weathered horn surfaces as can be seen in photos. The large scrimshawed flask with figural design has replaced wood top though it is old. Two small flasks are also good to very good. Silver top to small flask appears replaced. Donut flask appears complete, though missing a couple pins holding brass mounts and one large hairline. MORO SUIT OF ARMOR, 19TH CENTURY.

About 28″ x 25″, 17-1/2lbs, constructed of fine and medium brass mail links, 72 wood plates with 13 remaining silver foil decorations on front breastplate and 2 large brass and silver decorated latches. Ethnic Moro (Muslim) population of Southern Philippines resisted Spanish and later, American colonization and were known to be very fierce fighters. Captain and later General John J. Pershing, recommended the use of heavier caliber pistols (Colt 45 semi-auto and Colt 45 “Philippine DA”) relating one story where a Moro warrior was shot 7 times with the Colt 38 Cal. DA, and still continued charging with his 2-handled sword causing injury to several of his men. CONDITION: Fair to good overall, complete with only a few breaks in wood plates, loose from mail. Both latches are intact retaining silver foil decoration over 90% of their surfaces along with floral tacked silver decoration which is uncleaned and patinaed dark grey. FINE DUMONTHIER COMBINATION KNIFE AND DOUBLE BARREL PERCUSSION PISTOL.

NSN. Cal. 36. This popular curiosa is made in France, circa 1850 with silver plated brass grip, 8-1/2″ sgl-fullered dagger point blade. The 2 fullers are made to fit 3-1/2″ bbls on either side. A quillon on either side can be pulled and cocked, exposing percussion nipple which also engages a folding trigger. The pistol was fire by pulling trigger once for right side, then trigger automatically re-sets and will fire second chamber. Accompanied by brown leather sheath with silver plated tip. CONDITION: Fine to very fine overall. Blade retains some orig luster, being overall a mottled silver/grey. Grip retains most of its silver plate with dark silver patina in protected areas.
