ELEGANT PAIR OF SILVER MOUNTED 18TH CENTURY OTTOMAN FLINTLOCK PISTOLS.

NSN. 58 cal. 18″ overall. 2-stage 12 3/8″ two-stage bbls decorated with multiple Fleur-de-lis. Beveled locks with chiseled design and matching relief chiseled serpentine cocks. Guns are profusely decorated with silver hallmarked mounts, possibly Turkish. Trigger guards, lock escutcheons and butt caps have relief detail of panoplies of arms. This is a type of pistol is often associated with Barbary Coast pirates. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Both guns appear orig with some restoration to breaks in silver. Stocks are both sound with several reductions, one long sliver missing forward of lock on one gun. Some of the silver wire is missing but all in all an honest pair with hand worn patina. One gun functions the other will not hold cock. Both with smooth, clear, pitted bores. 51958-21 JS (3,000-5,000) – Lot 3405
