RARE AND FINE STEEL MOUNTED GERMAN WHEELOCK HUNTING RIFLE, 18TH CENTURY BY ANTONIO BAUMAN, MUNICH.

NSN. 46″ overall with 35″ swamped bbl with adjustable rear sight engraved with gold inset maker’s mark. Stock is beautifully rococo carved and steel mountings are beautifully engraved as can be seen in photos. Stock maker’s cartouche is found on bottom of buttstock. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Very good to fine overall. Metal is smooth and gray overall with some wear to engraved panel, but all in all an exemplary and much better than average example. Gun appears functional though not cranked with a well discerned rifle bore. 51958-27 JS (7,000-9,000) – Lot 3412
