LOT OF THREE PEPPERBOX PISTOLS.

1) SHARPS & HANKINS MODEL 1C. SN 26069. Cal. .22. Breech loading 4-shot pepper box pistol with 2-1/2″ bbl group, blue and silver finish, 1-pc walnut grip. SN is stamped on butt and bottom of bbl, left side of frame is marked “C. Sharps Patent 1859” in a circle, right side is marked “C. Sharps & Co. Philada. PA.” CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl assembly is a silver/gray patina overall with some roughness. Bores are dark with traces of rifling. SN is sharp. Frame is a mustard/brown patina overall with slight traces of silverplate. Receiver marking on left side is sharp, right side is slightly worn. Grips are very good and show handling marks and high point wear. 2) SHARPS & HANKINS MODEL 1C. SN 18822. Cal. .22. Breech loading 4-shot pepper box pistol with 2-1/2″ bbl group, blue and silver finish, 1-pc walnut grip. SN is stamped on butt and bottom of bbl, left side of frame is marked “C. Sharps Patent 1859” in a circle, right side is marked “C. Sharps & Co. Philada. PA.” Sharps pepperboxes are housed in a period mahogany box with green felt lining, sliding lid, and cartridge blocks. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl group is a smooth gray/brown patina overall with some roughness on the right side. Bores are dark with visible rifling. SN is clear. Frame is a mustard/yellow patina overall, shows some punch-dot decoration around the breech of the bbl and top of the grip. Receiver marks are slightly washed out on both sides. SN is clear. Grips are very good with light handling marks overall. Case is fair to good, lid is in two pieces, box shows handling marks overall, lining shows considerable wear. 3) ALLEN THURBER PEPPER BOX PISTOL. SN 98. Cal. .32. 3″ bbl group, blue finish, 2-pc walnut grips. Bbl is marked “Allen-Thurber & Co.” in one flute and “Worcester” in another flute. SN 98 is stamped at breech end. Left side of hammer is marked “Allen’s Patent”. Nipple shield is not present. Frame has broad scroll/floral engraving. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl group is a smooth gray/blue patina overall with a hint of blue in the flutes and sharp markings. Frame is a silver/gray patina overall. Engraving is sharp. LOT OF 2 ANTIQUE SMITH & WESSON #3 REVOLVERS.

SN 34889/31118. 1). New Model #3. SN 34889. Cal 44 Russian. Blue finish with 6-1/2″ keyhole shaped bbl, half moon front sight and fixed rear sight on bbl latch. Mounted with un-numbered diamond checkered walnut grips. Bbl rib has standard markings. Left side of bbl with caliber marking. 2). #3 DA Frontier. SN 31118. Cal 44 Russian. Nickel finish with 5″ keyhole shaped bbl, half moon front sight and fixed rear sight on bbl latch. Bbl rib has standard markings. Mounted with Smith & Wesson embossed hard rubber grips. CONDITION: 1). Fine, all matching except grips as noted. Overall retains about 65-70% orig blue, strong & bright in sheltered areas with fine pitting on left side of bbl. Mechanics are crisp, very bright shiny bore. Grips show heavy wear. 2). Very good to fine. Bbl & top strap retain about 75% strong orig nickel and the cylinder about 65-70% orig nickel. Frame retains virtually all of its orig nickel with some very minor spotting around the sideplate. Trigger guard retains most of its orig blue turned a little dark and the trigger strong case colors on the sides. Hammer also retains strong case colors on the sides. LOT OF 3 REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK PISTOLS CONSISTING OF 1) MODEL 1871 ARMY MODIFIED FOR TARGET USE, 2) MODEL 1865 NAVY, AND 3) MODEL 1867 NAVY.

1) REMINGTON 1871. SN 5282. Cal. 22LR. 10″ bbl. Blue and case color finish. Target sights. Checkered walnut grip and forend. SN 5282 is found on the bottom of the bbl under the forend and on the left inside of the top strap. 5087 is also stamped on the left inside of the top strap. 3976 is stamped on the left inside of the trigger guard. Frame shows remnants of Remington address on left side. Left side of frame also shows “S” stamped. Stocks are checkered and are replacements. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl shows 50-60% dull blue finish with clear marking. Target sights are very good. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver and trigger guard show generous traces of case color finish. Breechblock, hammer and trigger retain a generous amount of blue. This is a target pistol that was manufactured by a gunsmith using surplus Model 1871 parts. 2) REMINGTON 1865 NAVY. SN 111. Cal. 50RF. 8-1/2″ bbl. Full nickel finish with American walnut stocks. Checkered pistol grip. Bbl bears an anchor proof on top at the breech and is otherwise unmarked. Remington address and patent mark are stamped on left side of frame. SN is stamped on left side of backstrap under grip. SN is also seen on the front trigger guard channel of the grip. CONDITION: Very good as refinished. Bbl retains 80% of the dull nickel finish. Proof mark is legible. Front sight is good. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Receiver retains 60% dull nickel finish with flaking overall. Address is partially polished. Grips are very good with minor bruising and scratches overall. 3) REMINGTON 1867 ROLLING BLOCK PISTOL. SN 298. Cal.50CF. 7″ bbl. Blue and case color finish. Plain American walnut stocks. 1896 is stamped on bottom of bbl in front of forend. SN 298 is stamped on the receiver tang under grip on left side. 298 is also stamped on trigger guard under grip. An anchor proof is stamped on the bbl top at the breech. Receiver has Remington address and patent mark stamped on the left side. Right side of receiver has P over F.C.W stamped on right side above trigger guard. Stocks are not marked. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl has a gray brown patina overall with some dents and scratches. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver is a silver gray patina overall with some light pitting. MERWIN & HULBERT 2ND MODEL ARMY REVOLVER.

SN 11495. Cal. 44WCF. 7″ bbl. Full nickel finish. 2-pc hard rubber grips. Bbl shows 1-line Merwin & Hulbert patent mark on top. Left side of the bbl shows the manufacturer’s mark “The Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Co. Norwich. Conn. U.S.A”. SN is stamped on the bottom of the buttstrap behind the lanyard ring. The frame shows “Calibre Winchester 1873” stamped on left side. Assembly no. 1043 appears on the inside of the left grip strap. The assembly no. also appears on the rear face of the cyl., on the rear face of the bbl lug, and scratched on the inside of the right grip. This gun is featured on Pg. 34 “The Story of Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Firearms” by Phelps 2nd Edition and Pg. 15 of the 1st Edition. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains 80% nickel finish that has lightly flaked and turned somewhat dull. Bbl markings are sharp and clear. Wedge screw has a broken ear. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Frame retains 80-90% dull nickel finish with minuscule dents and scratches overall. Cyl. also retains 80% dull nickel with some light scratches and dents and a drag mark around the rear periphery. Chambers are clean. Hammer and trigger guard are a smooth gray brown patina with traces of case color. Grips are fine with sharp checkering and no chips. Grips have developed a pleasing chocolate brown color which is common to this model. MERWIN & HULBERT 3RD MODEL ARMY REVOLVER WITH FOLDING HAMMER.

SN 24702. Cal. 44 W.C.F. 7″ bbl. Full nickel finish with 2-pc checkered hard rubber grips. Bbl shows 1-line Merwin & Hulbert patent mark on top with manufacturer’s mark “The Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Co. Norwich. Conn. U.S.A”on left side. SN is stamped on the butt of the frame behind the lanyard ring, on the rear face of the cyl, and on the rear face of the bbl lug. Left side of frame is marked Calibre Winchester 1873. Assembly no. 2112 is stamped on the left inside grip strap. Hammer has patented folding spur. No. 932 is stamped on the face of the hammer spur. This gun is featured on Pg. 35 “The Story of Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Firearms” by Phelps 2nd Edition and Pg. 17 of the 1st Edition. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 90% of the nickel finish that has dulled with age. Bbl markings are sharp and clear. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Frame retains 90% dull nickel finish with minor flaking and slight erosion at heel of the butt. Markings are clear and sharp. Cyl. retains 90% dull nickel with only a couple of spots of flaking and a very light drag mark around the rear periphery. Hammer shows a considerable amount of case color remaining. Trigger guard and trigger also show generous traces of case color in protected areas. Grips are fine with no missing pieces and sharp checkering. Left grip is slightly cracked on inside due to over tightening of the grip screw.
