These mounted on the top of a leather work glove. The glove is not present. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Fine with some extremely light surface rust. Virtually all of the orig finish with some minor handling marks. The screw heads are slightly buggered. Mechanics are fine. *INTRIGUING OSS GENERAL MOTORS GUIDE LAMP DIV, LIBERATOR PISTOL WITH BOX AND INSTRUCTION MANUAL.
NSN. Cal. 45. 4″ bbl. Stamped sheet metal construction with removable floorplate for carrying spare ammunition. Sgl shot design. With box, ejecting rod, and cartoon-type instructions. Production estimated at 1 million. These guns were made for distribution to Partisans and freedom fighters as a simple handgun to be used to eliminate the enemy and capture usable small arms. The program was scrapped and the guns were to be destroyed. Now a favorite of collectors of clandestine operations and Partisan or in-country improvised weapons. A unique piece of history when the military establishment thought outside the box. CONDITION: Very fine with light tarnish and discoloration from storage. Shows very little actual use, however remains complete including the proper base plate. Bore is bright and smooth, as is correct. Mechanics are functional. *RARE AND DESIRABLE COLT MODEL 1907 MILITARY CONTRACT PISTOL WITH COLT FACTORY LETTER.
SN 157. Cal. 45 Rimless/Smokeless. 5″ bbl. Blue finish, checkered walnut grips. This pistol is one of 201 made as a military contract to the US Government. Left side of slide shows Colt’s Patent mark and 2-line address. Right side of the frame reads “AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 45 RIMLESS SMOKELESS”. Left side of frame shows SN stamped above trigger guard bow. Trigger guard bow shows military inspector stamp “K. M.” on left forward bow. No other marks are visible on the pistol. The pistol has a lanyard ring attached to the butt on the left side of frame. There is an external indicator on the slide to show if the chamber is loaded. Pistol has a spur hammer and a grip safety.Accompanied with the gun ia a Colt Factory letter detailing its configuration and special order features.Serial number 157 was shipped cal 45/c with 5 inch barrel and blue finish. Special features are listed as ,Furnished with a modified hammer, a nearly vertical ejection, the extractor milled into the top of the slide that indicates chamber loaded,an automatic safety, a straightened stirrup,a lengthened trigger stirrup pin, a clip type magazine release at rear of butt, below the grip”United States Government”. Shipped to Springfield Armory Springfield Massachusetts March 17 1908. Group of 200 guns in shipment. CONDITION: Very fine. Slide is a smooth polished finish overall with sharp markings. Slide appears to have had an application of cold blue at sometime in the past. No polishing is evident. Frame shows 90% blue finish that is turning somewhat plum color. SN and inspector marks are sharp. Frame shows some slight handling marks. Fire blue parts, grip safety, trigger, hold open latch, screws, and pins all retain a generous amount of fire blue. Hammer shows nearly all of the original case coloring. Firing pin shows straw finish. Grips are fine with sharp checkering and very little evidence of handling. Magazine retains 80% blue with wear marks on front and rear. Mechanics are jammed and need attention; pistol is stuck on full cock. SN 19015. Cal. 45. 5″ standard bbl. Metal parts fully blued with correct mid-early fine finish. All parts appear to be correct and orig with the exception of the bbl bushing, which is from a much later pistol and the magazine which is a two-tone lanyard loop which should be a keyhole type. Bbl is properly Sans Serif “H” marked on rear of hood. Slide left has 1911 last patent date and circled Rampant Colt at rear. Slide is Sans Serif “H” marked above firing pin stop plate. Short stubby hammer. Fully milled thumb safety. Milled slide stop with 1911 relief cut. Short tang grip safety. Flat mainspring housing. Long trigger. Front sight is narrow tapered. Rear sight is rounded with rnd notch and registration mark lines up properly. Bbl has proper longitudinal finish marks along the axis visible through ejection port. CONDITION: Overall, an extremely attractive 1913 pistol retaining most (95%) of its orig finish. Front grip strap shows erosion and minor pitting of finish. Mainspring housing shows considerable finish erosion. Slide shows almost no pitting. Frame retains most of the finish except for grip strap area. Butt of pistol shows rust and minor pitting. Bottom of trigger guard bow shows “233” overstamp. Slide has drag mark on both sides from dustcover. Slight takedown scratch on receiver and slide. Frame marked with “GHS” (Gilbert H Stewart) acceptance mark above magazine catch left. Magazine is full blued unmarked pin base type, probably of Colt manufacture circa 1943. CONDITION: Extremely fine condition. Retains 98% orig Colt finish. Slide retains nearly all of its Colt brush blued finish with a small spot of wear opposite ejection port. Holdback notch shows moderate peening. Moderate wear underneath slide hammer rail. Bbl shows moderate corrosion and pitting. Stock screws show proper faceting. Stock screw slots show only moderate screwdriver wear. Front grip strap near perfect. Magazine catch lock shows moderate screwdriver damage. Mainspring housing showing only slight holster wear. Uncircled Rampant Colt to rear slide left. Last patent date 1913. Stock screws show faceting. Magazine is two-tone commercial polished lanyard loop pinned bottom type with “AG” scratched on both sides. CONDITION: Very fine with the possibility of a couple of restored parts. 98% orig finish with strong grip straps. Bbl bushing has heavy bevel around front edge. Left stock protrudes slightly below butt metal. Both parts are probably orig but could be a partial restoration. Thumb safety appears to have more polishing than normal as does trigger. Pistol was not disassembled but parts show the distinctive Springfield features. Slide left has last patent date 1911 with Springfield Armory standard marking. Flaming bomb to rear of slide. Front sight is integral machined into slide. Thin and rounded with no flattening on top. Rear sight has Springfield square outline flat top with rounded notch. Firing pin stop plate has typical Springfield rounded bevel. Springfield hammer has checkering rounding over the end. Thumb safety has distinctive Springfield outline. Slide stop has checkering all the way up to the top. Receiver marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” on dust cover left front, flaming bomb over magazine catch button. Short tang grip safety has typical Springfield sharp edge. Mainspring housing has typical Springfield minimal bevel on bottom edge. Magazine is typical Springfield manufacture with two-tone follower, copper plating on rear upper and folded over welded lips on the bottom. CONDITION: Magazine in excellent orig condition. SN C185783. Cal. 45ACP. 5″ bbl. Very attractive 1937 manufacture government model in 100% orig condition retaining 97% finish. All parts are orig and correct. CONDITION: Very fine. Slide retains 98%+ orig finish with some slight erosion at muzzle. Small amount of pitting at muzzle. Minor scratches on sides but slide still retains very attractive look. Frame has scattered pinprick spotting on right side. No significant dents or scrapes. Front and rear grip straps show almost no deterioration. Mainspring housing shows slight finish deterioration. Wide long spur hammer shows spotting on right side. Extractor shows pitting on rear face. Front sight shows minor pitting on right side. Magazine is two tone commercially marked “COLT 45 AUTO” on face plate. Excellent condition with some bluing missing on tongue. Matching SN under firing pin stop plate. Does not have Swartz safety. *COLT 1911 PISTOL MADE IN MID 1918 PRE BLACK ARMY.
SN 337141. Cal. .45. 5″ Bbl. Receiver has been refinished with late WWI Black Army type finish. Machining marks on receiver still go in proper directions. Slide marked “Model of 1911 U.S. ARMY” right side. Left slide marking “Patented December 19.1905” over “Feb 14.1911, Aug.19.1913” over “Colt’s PT.F.A.MFG.CO.” next to flaming bomb with “S” in the center. This slide was made by the A.J. Savage Munitions Company of San Diego, California and are generally believed to be leftover parts from a canceled contract that were used as replacement parts. (Clawson, Collector’s Guide, pg. 29). Receiver marked “United States Property” on left upper dust cover. Springfield eagle over “S8” above mag catch left. Front sight is thin, rounded. Rear sight is thin, square notch. Dbl diamond stocks appear to be WWI period but do not fit grip screw bushings correctly, leaving a space under the left lower stock. Bbl is replacement Springfield Armory made with “S” & “P” marks on left lug. No marks on right lug. No marks visible through ejection port. Mag appears to be standard Colt welded base type that has been refinished with Parkerized finish and has some of the refinish eroded. CONDITION: Numerous dings and erosion behind thumb safety pins on right hand side that have been blued over. Considerable patina on mainspring housing and grip safety. Checkered wide spur hammer and thumb safety excellent. Slide stop is 1911 type but serrated indicating reproduction or postwar replacement part. Springfield eagle over “S8” acceptance mark over mag catch is still crisp and sharp. Mag catch lock shows considerable buggering. Stock screws show considerable wear and minor buggering. Both slide and receiver appear to have been refinished with the same Black Army type finish. Considerable deterioration to finish on slide. Many scratches and scuffs covered up by refinish. Right trigger guard bow upper shows #77 assembler mark. Left upper trigger guard bow shows “R” final inspector over verified proof. Takedown scratch over “GHD” acceptance mark. CONDITION: Bbl and inside show considerable wear. Piston works freely. Bore bright and shiny. Slide is properly unnumbered. Mag is fully blued with pinned cast type flowplate. Erosion on front grip strap due to ring. Wear on all exposed edges. Rear sight screws have been recut and polished. Minor scuffs on most surfaces. Magazine is two tone, all steel early type with polished base marked “COLT”, “ACE” in diamond, “.22LR”. Stock screws are excellent. Left stock shows damage around upper screw. Magazine in near new condition but with some finish deterioration to baseplate. SN 3806. Cal. 22. 5″ bbl. Pistol appears to have started as standard Colt Ace and received modifications by Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The purpose of these modifications is unknown but described here. Slide right side marked “COLT”, diamond cartouche with “ACE”, “22 Long/Rifle”. Front sight is half rnd wide. Rear sight is Colt adjustable square notch. Left side of slide has Colt’s standard nomenclature with colt to the rear. Firing pin and slide stop is standard ACE type with anti-friction roller. The entire slide internals have been skeletonized for weight reduction as was done on all Colt Aces. Right side of receiver marked with SN behind slide hold open pinhole. Left rear of receiver marked “W.R.A.CO.”. Top of receiver shows two empty holes normally used by ejector on centerfire cartridge pistols. Left trigger guard bow upper shows “3” final inspector mark over verified proof. Right trigger guard bow upper shows “20” final assembly mark. Top of receiver shows “R” inspector mark. Factory supplied stocks have been replaced by much thicker dbl diamond stocks fabricated from a dark wood. Stock screws have been made to fit correspondingly longer stocks. Receiver has long wide spur hammer, checkered thumb safety and checkered ACE hold open. Trigger is short, milled and checkered. Grips safety is long tang. Mainspring housing is checkered with no lanyard loop. Magazine is Colt two tone Ace which appears to be unmodified and have orig Colt finish. Baseplate marked “COLT/ACE” in cartouche/22LR. Accompanied by factory letter acknowledging shipment to Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, Connecticut, April 1, 1932. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as modified and refinished by W.R.A. Co. Entire pistol has been refinished with a semi satin polish. All modifications have been blued over. Bbl shows some apparent plating done on the outer forward portion. Receiver rails upper show signs of serious gunsmithing and fitting. Overall condition of pistol shows nearly 100% coverage of refinish. Mechanics are crisp. Complete with box with spurious label and instruction manual. Manufactured 1953. CONDITION: Fine overall condition with slight finish flaking evident on hammer, muzzle and slide stop. SN 327695-C. Cal. 45ACP. 5″ bbl, full blue finish with matted slide. 2-pc checkered plastic grips with Colt logo. Pistol shows correct Colt logo rolled on left side of slide. Right side of slide is rolled with Colt address. SN appears on right side of frame above trigger. Magazine is marked “COLT 45 AUTO”. Box is brown wood grain cardboard with end label describing Cal. and finish. SN of pistol is written in grey marker on back of box, which appears to be orig to this gun. CONDITION: Very fine. Slide shows 99% bright blue finish with only a few small mars on the matted surface on top. Markings are sharp. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Frame also retains 98% plus finish with only a few minor handling marks overall. Grips are very fine. Magazine retains nearly all of the orig finish. Magazine follower retains almost all of the blue finish. Mechanics are crisp. Box is in fine condition also with some slight scuff marks. End label is very clean.
