*COLT SERVICE MODEL ACE PISTOL SERIAL NUMBER SM7653.SN SM7653. Cal. .22LR. 5″ bbl. Part of a shipment of 775 pistols to officer in charge Naval Depot, Norfolk, VA, in 1945. Includes letter of provenance from Cherry’s, Greensboro, NC. Front sight elevated serrated ramp. Rear sight “Stevens” adjustable sight. Stamped Yaman trigger. Rear stocks are Colt wide ring. Stock screws standard Colt. Serrated mainspring housing. Checkered flat sided hammer. Long tang grip safety. Checkered thumb safety. Serrated slide stop. Left hand side shows “United States Property” over SN, but properly lacking M1911A1 marking. Right trigger guard bow upper shows #77 assembler mark. Left upper trigger guard bow shows “R” final inspector over verified proof. Takedown scratch over “GHD” acceptance mark. Right slide shows “Colt Service Model ACE .22 Long Rifle”. Left slide shows Colt’s standard patent marking, address, and rampant colt. Mag marked “Colt 22 ACE Long Rifle Service Model” on floorplate. CONDITION: Bbl and inside show considerable wear. Piston works freely. Bore bright and shiny. Slide is properly unnumbered. Mag is fully blued with pinned cast type flowplate. Erosion on front grip strap due to ring. Wear on all exposed edges. Rear sight screws have been recut and polished. Minor scuffs on most surfaces. Right hand stock shows crack through lower grip screw escutcheon. Left stock appears sound. Some flattening of diamonds both stocks. Overall slide shows 90% orig Parkerised finish. Receiver shows 85% orig Parkerised finish.
