Oil on board Vermont scene shows a view of the ledge covered mountain dropping to a valley with Colonial farm, pastures, rock walls and trees. All under white cloud and blue sky. Additional Information: We are not guaranteeing that this painting is by George Caleb Bingham. Also, the Smithsonian lists indicates Hirschl & Adler owned this at one time. Hirschl & Adler advised us that they did not own it, it was on consignment.

GEORGE CALEB BINGHAM (American, 1811-1879) WESTERN LANDSCAPE. Outstanding recent rediscovery oil on canvas panoramic landscape showing what is believed to be Pike’s Peak in the background. Foreground having a group of people led by a Native American with spear and shield. There are ten figures in all and they stand next to the river on a grassy bank dotted with large trees. A large tree is on the right side with colorful ground cover at bottom near the water. Light cascades in from the left lighting the mountain in a rose glow. Signed lower right “G C Bingham 71″. An outstanding example of this American artist. Housed in a fine decorated gilt wood replacement frame. REFERENCE: Smithsonian Inventory of Art, Control Number IAP 71930309. SIZE: 34-1/2″ x 27-1/4”. ATTRIBUTED TO DAVID RYCKAERT (Flemish, Late 17th/Late 18th Century) SMOKE BREAK IN THE TAVERN. Oil on canvas interior tavern scene shows three gentleman seated around a keg formed table smoking from clay pipes. Several other figures can be seen in the background in an alcove, the floor has a wood tub with earthen ware jug as well as a large pewter tankard. Signed on edge of bench “D. Ryckaert”. Housed in a fine gilt gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 19-1/4″ x 26-1/4″. CONDITION: Relined with some restoration but hard to determine extent under blacklight. 9-95315 (4,000-6,000)

Twenty-four lithographs, views and costumes. First edition of an extremely rare and collectible bound folio depicting views of Egyptian cities and their surroundings and different costumes of the region. The plates are from two French Orientalist painters. The costume plates are by Alexandre Bida. Each plate is titled in French, Arabic and English. SIZE: 22-1/2″ x 17″. The portfolio includes a list of advanced subscribers, the Prospectus and an addressed envelope with material relating to the subscriber including invitations to the unveiling and request to be included in the subscription list as well as a price sheet and more. The leather cover having gilt lettering and embossed decoration and two gold colored metal clasps. SIZE: 23″ x 15-3/4″.
