*RARE FUNKEN ENGRAVED BROWNING SUPERPOSED DIANA GRADE 20 GA SHOTGUN.
SN 8393. Cal. 20 ga. 26-1/2″ Special steel bbls. 2-3/4″ chambers. Chokes marked Imp cyl/modified. Full-length low profile matted ventilated rib with twin ivory beads. Gold-plated sgl selective trigger, auto ejectors, non auto-safety. Stock is RKLT config and checkered in three-point pattern with 14-1/4″ LOP over Browning black plastic buttplate. Stocks are a superb nearly imperceptible early replacement. Round nose forearm checkered in five-point pattern. Receiver is spectacularly engraved with relief ducks in pond in woods scene on right, two quail on bottom, and six pheasants in field and woods scene on left, all surrounded by fabulous leaf and floral scroll engraving. Trigger guard incredibly relief engraved with two rabbits. Gun is housed in tan Browning hard case. PROVENANCE: The Forest R. Marshall Collection. CONDITION: Excellent as lightly field used. Receiver retains 95%+ orig grayed finish. Buttstock and forearm are excellent with minor handling marks and a couple of light impressions on butt, one near back of trigger guard and others near toe. Stocks with some added finish and checkering lightly filled. Bores are excellent, bright and shiny. Bbl retains most of an old expert quality restored finish. SN 59523. Cal. 12/12/20 ga. Bbl set 1) Cal. 12 ga. 26-1/2″ Special Steel with 2-3/4″ chambers. Chokes marked Mod/Imp Cyl. Bbl set 2) Cal 12 ga. 26-1/2″ Special Steel bbl with 3″ chambers. Chokes marked Full/Full. Bbl set 3) Cal. 20 ga. 26-1/2″ Special Steel bbl with 3″ chambers. Chokes marked Imp Cyl/Mod. All three sets with full length matted top rib. Bbl sets 1 and 3 with steel mid and front beads. Bbl set 2 with ivory mid and front beads. Gold-plated sgl selective trigger, auto ejectors, non-auto safety. American Walnut flame grained buttstock is RKLT configuration checkered in three-point pattern with 14″ LOP over Browning waffle pad. Forearms are all round nosed type checkered in five-point pattern. Receiver is double signed by Funken and beautifully full coverage engraved with ducks in marsh scene on right, pheasant in wood scene on left, all surrounded by Funken’s famous floral scroll. Bottom of action with deep cut grouse surrounded by deep cut scroll and trigger guard with bunny rabbits in wood scene. Also included with this gun is a set of six Briley sub-gauge inserts in a separate brown leather case, with Browning oil bottle, brush, and tap also included. Our consignor customized the top tang under the lever with a large triangular gold inlay of his initials “FRM”. Housed in orig Browning three bbl set case with orig instruction pamphlet and keys. Weight with bbl set 1: 7 lbs. 14 oz. PROVENANCE: Forest R. Marshall Collection. CONDITION: Very good as field used and customized. Bbl sets 1 and 3 retain 95-98% expertly restored blued finish. Bbl set 2 appears to retain most of its orig lightly toned blued finish. Custom buttstock and forearms have been restored. Bbl set #1 with filler and three repaired cracks on left side at breech end and one long grain separation toward muzzle. Bbl set #3 forearm is a well done replacement and has minor play. Checkering is crisp and lightly filled in. Mechanics are excellent. Bores are bright and shiny. Case is very good with minor handling and rub marks, bbl lug holders are loose but otherwise very good. SN D95925. Cal. .22 LR. 4″ bbl with ventilated rib, target sights, full blue finish, with 2-pc checkered walnut grips showing nickel Colt medallions. Engraving is nearly full coverage in a vine scroll motif with a stippled background. Bottom of frame, trigger guard, and straps show no engraving. Engraving is nicely accomplished. Left side of bbl shows model and cal mark, right side of bbl shows Colt address. SN is stamped on the frame in the crane mortise and on the crane opposite the mortise. Revolver has target sights, front sight has red insert, rear sight has been polished white. CONDITION: Very good as totally re-finished. Revolver retains nearly all the blue finish. Sight, hammer, and trigger have been polished to a bright finish. Markings are sharp. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Cyls are clean. There is what appears to be an Engravers signature on the left side of the grip frame under grip. Grips are very good, with sharp checkering and only light handling marks overall. Only a few 3″ Pythons have ever been produced and most of those on special order. CONDITION: May have been fired one cylinder load but if so, no more. Overall retains virtually all of its crisp, orig, bright blue factory finish. Grips are equally new. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. Accompanied by a Colt 1-pc wood grain, Styrofoam lined box with owners manual & papers. Very likely this revolver had a presentation case as there is no end label on the box.
