Just above the vignette on each sideplate, hidden in the engraving, is a flying partridge on the left side and a woodcock on the right. The bottom of the receiver, and the front edges of the receiver, have clusters of flowers with an identical cluster on the trigger bow. The lower tang, top tang, opening lever and forend iron are engraved to match. The trigger plate has a small vignette of a spaniel holding a dead quail. The inside of the forend iron is engraved to match and also has a vignette engraved with the ejector patent number and date. The left side of the trigger plate, beside the trigger, is engraved “HUNTER ONE TRIGGER”. The water table on bbls and sides of the lug are very nicely jeweled. The water table on the receiver is engraved with the patent dates and the serial number. The top tang has “S” in gold and the trigger has “L” & “R” in gold. The drop at the heel is 2” and 1-3/8” at the comb. Accompanied by a Huey oak and leather trunk case with green felt lining and compartments for the individual pieces, a pair of nickeled L.C. Smith snap caps and a Dixon square nickeled oil bottle along with a 2-piece wood and brass wiping rod. There is a maker’s label in the lid. The Huey nameplate is #3. Also accompanies is a ’s Firearms letter, dated July 8, 1985, to Chris Belcher of Chadick’s and signed by William S. Brophy. In the letter, Mr. Brophy states that he has examined this shotgun and found it to be a factory original A3. He states that he has examined 4 of the 18 A3 guns manufactured and this one is typical of the others examined. He further states that it is one of the finest L.C. shotguns manufactured. Also accompanying are photographs of the shotgun with the left lockplate removed, which shows the A3 marking. SN 204235. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbls retain most of a very fine re-blacking. The receiver and lockplates retain 75-80% faded original case colors, bright around the fences and under the opening lever with the balance turned silver. The stock has a hairline back of the right lockplate, otherwise the wood is sound and retains about all of its fine professional custom finish with very minor handling and use marks. Bright shiny bores. The case is extremely fine. 4-50088 JR405 (10,000-15,000)
