EDWIN HUNT DOUBLE BARREL PERCUSSION SHOTGUN. Cal. about 12 ga. Early English made shotgun sold by Edwin Hunt of New York, with 32-1/2” Damascus bbls with “London Fine Twist” on the top rib, “London” with scroll decorations being inlaid in gold. The chamber area of bbls have silver inlays of a hunter, dog, bird and tree on the left side and two dogs, a tree and two ducks on the right side. The breech end of bbl has silver and gold wire bands. The breech plate, top tang, trigger guard and buttplate tang are all engraved in arabesque patterns. Lockplates have a pheasant with light decorative borders with the distributors name and state. It is in a 1-pc walnut stock with cheek piece and smooth steel buttplate. CONDITION: Fair. 50% bbl patter remains. Missing one ramrod guide. Broken nosepipe. Locks, trigger guard and buttplate are a dark brown patina. Wood is fine showing much wear. 4-49017 JR83 (250-400)

*ANSCHUTZ RECORD MATCH PISTOL MODEL 210. Cal. 22. Beautiful Martini action German free pistol with 11” tapered oct bbl, ramp front sight with wings and receiver mounted micrometer adjustable rear sight. It has a tiny checkered and carved forearm with beautiful adjustable free pistol, checkered and carved target grips. The top flat of bbl is matted, with the name “Louis D. Kernell” engraved about the middle. The right flat in the same area is marked “Udo Anschutz” with same name and address by the serial number on the rear of the frame. The frame is beautifully engraved with foliate arabesque pattern engraving having a very fine punch-dot background. The cocking lever is on the left side of the frame. It has a fully adjustable trigger with screw extension. It is accompanied by its original leather suitcase-style carrying case, which has what is presumed to be the original wood-handle cleaning rod in the lid. There is a small compartment in the lid, which contains a spare front sight, two spare hammer springs, and an action key with screwdriver and a chamber reamer. Another compartment in the body of the case contains a small cup of grease, a chamber brush and 3 U.S. military 30-06 headspace gauges. Accompanies is a sales receipt from Franz Merkel to 1st Lt. Louis D. Kernell dated July 6, 1945 for this pistol. Also included is an advertising page, in German for this pistol. Also included is a copy of the May 1948 issue of “The American Rifleman” which has an article on page 19 regarding slow-fire pistol shooting in which this model of pistol in mentioned. Fine custom, full stock carbine with 20” oct bbl, full length raised matted rib with pedestal mounted ivory bead front sight and 2-leaf gold line express sight and the makers name in gold inlaid about midpoint on the rib. The chamber end of bbl has a single wide gold band. The receiver, trigger guard, floorplate, grip cap, bolt handle and cutoff are very nicely engraved with very deep relief oak leaf and acorn patterns with fine stippled background. The left side of the receiver ring has a very nicely detailed raised gold elk and the right side and equally detailed raised gold cape buffalo. The floorplate has a very thick highly detailed raised gold European stag head. The bolt handle root is inlaid with two-color gold, oak leaves, and an acorn. The bolt body is very lightly herringbone pattern engraved and the bolt knob is knurled. It is mounted in a full length, very nicely figured, Claro walnut stock with a rosewood semi-schnable tip and has a European style wide monte carlo cheek piece with an inlaid 3-color wood grizzly bear. The rear edge of the cheek piece has a tiny carved African antelope, has a small rosewood diamond near the toe and a square gold initial plate just above the diamond. It is 13-3/8” over a basketweave pattern horn buttplate. The wrist and forestock are extensively checkered in about 24 lines per inch with fine custom diamond patterns on the forestock. The right edge of the receiver at the ejection port is marked with the maker’s name and address with the SN stamped in the thumb slot. Weight: 6lbs. 12.5 oz. SN 182. It is accompanied by its original DCM shipping box containing a complete list of accessories including: M-84 scope, sling, cheek pad, flash hider, cleaning rod with carrying case, chamber brush, buffer rod, swab holder, lubricant case, and more, all sealed in their original vapor barrier paper with military nomenclature on the outside. It is accompanied by its original military DD form 1348-1A transferring this rifle on the 187th day of 1995 to Harry J. Davies of Philadelphia, PA. It was shipped from Anniston Depot, Alabama via registered mail dated July 6, 1995. The rifle is still sealed in its heavy plastic sleeve and so could not be examined to determine condition and bbl date, etc. It appears, through the plastic, to be in as new or as rebuilt condition. It is equipped with a laced on leather cheek piece marked “MRT /11-58” a clamp-on flash hider and M84 scope, SN 1353, with rubber eye piece and canvas carrying case. Consignor purchased this rifle intact, as is, directly through the DCM. SN 2212727. CONDITION: Extremely fine as arsenal rebuilt retaining virtually all its gray green Parkerizing and finish on the wood with very minor storage and handling marks. The receiver has a small area of pitting at the upper front edge. The scope retains 92-93% thin original blue with light scratches around the body and a dent in each cap. The optics are fine. *REMINGTON MODEL 03A4 SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. Standard 03A4 with bbl dated 12-43, mounted in a semi pistol grip stock with usual proofs and a RIA cartouche on the left side of the butt. The receiver is mounted with a parkerized Redfield base and has blued rings containing an authentic military Texan or Alaskan style scope with blued 7/8” tube. The left side of the tube has usual markings with serial and stock numbers. All the visible parts on the scope have part numbers. Accompanied by a letter from the previous owner stating the rifle was sold as surplus out of the Quantico Marine Station Museum in the 60’s. SN 4996606. *VERY EARLY SPRINGFIELD MODEL1903 BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. Extremely early 03 with a Springfield “05” dated bbl and 1908 dated stock cartouche. The handguard is of the very early style with thick squareback hump near the sight. It is accompanied by a very early Rock Island Arsenal leather sling for either a trapdoor or a Krag rifle. Written in ink on the inside of the sling is the name “Verl Ward” and “H.I.K.N.G.”. It has the original style smooth steel floor plate and smooth buttplate with trap containing an early nickeled oiler with pullthrough. The bolt is marked “A” at the handle root. SN 164. CONDITION: About good, bbl retains 40-50% blue in sheltered areas, the receiver is a mottled blue/gray. The floorplate and trigger guard retain about 50% dull blue and the buttplate is mostly a silver metal color. Wood is sound with numerous small nicks and scratches, a few light gouges in the grasping grooves and some light prick marks on the left side of the butt with a series of scrapes on the left side by the receiver. *SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1898 KRAG RIFLE. Cal. 30-40. Spectacular original rifle with 30” round bbl, 1-pc walnut stock and upper handguard. The stock has a crisp 1902 cartouche and stockproofs below the trigger guard. It has a smooth steel buttplate containing a 3-piece jointed cleaning rod and Krag tool wedged in the middle. It is accompanied by an original brown leather sling marked Rock Island Arsenal dated 1903. SN 401020. CONDITION: Absolutely outstanding, as new, retaining virtually all of its original arsenal finish to both metal and wood with a small scuff on the rear receiver bridge and very minor edge wear. It has a brass muzzle protector and a cleaning rod and oiler under the trapdoor in the buttplate. All markings and features are standard. An issue number 22 is stamped on top of the stock at the buttplate. CONDITION: Fine with 50% blue on bbl and trigger guard, 75% on buttplate and bbl band. KRAG MODEL 1896 MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-40. Standard rifle with 30” bbl, standard sights with brass muzzle cover in a 1-pc walnut stock with hand guard. It has stacking swivel and sling swivels with a smooth steel buttplate with trap containing a three piece jointed wiping rod and original nickeled oiler. The left side of the stock has a crisp cartouche dated 1898. SN 61932. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and receiver retain about 95% strong bright original blue with scattered pinpoints of very fine surface rust. The sideplate and cartridge box retain about 95% mottled case colors. Sights and action have been updated to Model 1899 configuration although the receiver is marked Model 1898. The firing pin has the small diameter knurled surface at the rear. SN 286446. CONDITION: 85% thinning blue on bbl, 90% thinning blue on the extractor and trigger guard. Buttplate is mostly gray with some pitting. *WINCHESTER MODEL 1897 TRENCH GUN. Cal. 12 ga. Usual configuration with 21” cylinder choke bbl, perforated hand guard with bayonet lug and sling loop. Receiver has a large US and flaming bomb at the left rear side and a small flaming bomb on top of bbl. The buttstock has a stamped #9 or 6 on the right side, otherwise it is unmarked. It has uncheckered wood with small ribbed forearm and pistol grip stock with sling loop. SN 953423. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbl and magazine tube retain 95-96% dull original blue. The receiver retains 94-95% strong bright original blue with minor scratches and edge wear. *WINCHESTER MODEL 1897 TRENCH GUN. Cal. 12 ga. Usual configuration, solid frame with 20” cylinder bbl, blued perforated steel handguard with bayonet lug and sling swivels. The left side of the receiver has a large flaming bomb and the left side of bbl is stamped “US Property”. The buttstock is highly figured with “GHD” cartouche on the left side and has a Winchester logo black hard rubber buttplate. It has the small round ribbed forearm. SN 518516. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl and magazine tube retain about 90% original blue, thin on the magazine tube. The handguard retains 95-97% strong bright original blue. The receiver retains 35-40% thin original blue with the balance silver brown patina. Wood is sound with the buttstock having been cleaned. Retains about 20% original varnish. *WINCHESTER MODEL 97 TRENCH GUN. Cal 12ga. Standard trench gun with 20” cylinder bbl, perforated hand guard with bayonet lug and sling loop with a corresponding loop in the buttstock. It has uncheckered wood with round ribbed forearm and pistol grip stock with Winchester hard rubber buttplate. The wrist is wrapped with braided wire apparently to support a cracked wrist. The right forward side of the frame is marked is marked “US” over a flaming bomb. No other military markings are present. Accompanied by a Remington pattern 14 bayonet with original date of 1913 and redated “10 17”. SN 674057. CONDITION: Good, as previously noted, metal retains a smooth plum brown patina with dark blue on the magazine tube and in sheltered areas on the receiver. The hand guard is a dark gray patina. The forearm is sound and retains about 75% original finish. The buttstock, with its cracked wrist and wire wrappings, retains about 85% original finish. Good bore with moderate pitting. *MARTIALLY MARKED REMINGTON MODEL 11 TRAINING SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. Made on Browning’s patent with 26” plain bbl with Cutts Compensator. It has matte military finish and is so marked “MILITARY FINISH” on the left side of the receiver. The left side of the receiver and top of bbl are stamped “U.S.” with flaming bomb. The stock has the inspector mark “FJA” with the ordnance corps wheel. Wood has an oil finish with mottled brown Remington hard rubber buttplate. These shotguns were purchased by the military in WWII and used for arial gunnery training. SN 705457. CONDITION: Very good, as noted with the added Cutts Compensator. The metal retains 95% plus military finish with very fine, light surface rust overall. It has a sniper scope rail on the right rear side of the receiver and a trap in the sheet metal buttplate. It has 1200 yd military sight. LOT OF 11 PHILIPPINE KNIVES & PHOTOGRAPHS. The knives consist of: six large fighting blades, four of which have wood scabbards, one with a wavy decorated blade and pearl inlaid handle; another has a carved and painted scabbard with pearl inlay; another is a blade only which is very wavy with decorated ricasso; and another is mahogany ceremonial knife. Four of the pieces are small knives, two of which have scabbards, one with a wide wavy blade. The other two are dirks and there is an accompanying empty scabbard. Also accompanies is small book written in Japanese and eight war time photographs of battle damage and Philippino children. Another shows Philippine civilians leaving a landing barge. Two photos are of the battle dead. and another picture is of three Japanese officers with Japanese writing. CONDITION: Photos are fine, slightly yellowed, book has a loose spine but otherwise appears intact. Retains 88-90% strong bright original blue with light muzzle and edge wear and three spots of cleaned rust on the right side of the slide, a scratch at the top rear of the slide and with some scattered fine pinpoints of rust on the frame. *COLT MODEL 1903 GENERAL OFFICER’S PISTOL. Cal. 32 ACP. Parkerized version of the venerable pocket pistol with “U.S. Property” on the right side of the frame and usual markings elsewhere. Full checkered walnut grips with silver Colt medallions. It is accompanied by an original issue craft paper box, numbered to another pistol in the same series, which contains a special instruction booklet and an original owner’s pamphlet along with a Lt. Colonel’s insignia. SN 569724. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains virtually all its gray/green Parkerizing, crisp grips with bright shiny bore. *EARLY COLT MODEL 1911 MILITARY PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. Blued finish with 5” bbl, last patent date 1911 with thin front sight and rounded rear sight. It has full checkered large diamond walnut grips and a 2-tone lanyard-loop magazine. There is the number 1156 on the right rear side of the frame and it has the small United States property on the left forward edge of the frame. SN 26027. CONDITION: Very fine, the slide retains 94-96% strong bright original blue with muzzle and edge wear and a few scattered white spots and two or three small nicks. The front sight has had the top flattened and the rear sight slightly opened. The frame retains 92-94% strong bright original blue with edge wear and thin grip frame with a small spot of patina on the left forward part of the frame. Grips show moderate wear, more on the right side with one battered grip screw. Bbl is a commercial replacement, otherwise the parts all appear to be original 1911. *SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1911 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. Standard 1911 with 5” bbl, narrow front sight and square rear sight. It has usual slide markings with flaming bomb at the rear of the slide and on the left side of the frame with “U.S. Property” on the left forward side of the frame and a small American eagle on the right side of the slide. SN 78370. CONDITION: Good to very good. The slide retains 30-40% dull original blue with the balance brown patina. The frame retains 15-20% blue with the balance patina and the grip frame silver/gray. Grips are very fine with some minor mashed diamonds and may be old original equipment replacements. Bbl, bushing, slidelock, thumb safety and springcap are replacement Colt parts. The hammer, grip safety and other parts appear to be original. CONDITION: About very good, slide has flaked to about 60% strong bright original blue remaining with the initials HFH lightly scratched on the right rear end(may have belonged to Hugh Hefner when he was in the Army). The flaked area on the right side has scattered rust pitting. The frame retains 85-90% strong bright original blue with thin grip straps, silver patina. Grips show moderate to heavy wear and the magazine about 90% with the white area a light patina, one side of the base has been scratched “Morch 11-12-1918”. *VERY EARLY COLT COMMERCIAL GOVERNMENT MODEL PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. First year production with the last patent date of 1911, thin front sight and round top rear sight. The serial number is in small numerals on the left forward side of the frame, the right side of the frame is marked “Colt Automatic/Calibre 45” and it has “government model” in small letters on the right forward side of the frame. It is equipped with niter blue trigger, slide lock, thumb safety, hammer and magazine release and is fitted with large diamond checkered walnut grips. It has a post war commercial magazine. SN C687. CONDITION: Good to very good, the slide is flaked to about 70% high polish bright original blue with the flaked areas a light patina with very fine pitting. The frame retains 90-93% high polish bright original blue with thinned front strap and dulled spring housing. The trigger, slide lock, thumb safety, and hammer retain generous amounts of their original bright niter blue. Grips show moderate wear with one battered screw. *COLT PRE WAR POST WAR GOVERNMENT MODEL PISTOL. Cal. 38 Super. Early post-war pistol (1947) with 5” bbl marked on the right side of the slide “Colt Super .38 automatic” with rampant horse. It has military style brown plastic grips with large doughnuts and an original Colt all blue magazine. This model is referred to as the “fat barrel”. It is reported that immediately after the war when Colt began making the 38 super, they only had one size bbl blank and that was for the 45ACP. So when they bored for the 38 caliber it left a heavier bbl wall than on later production pieces. SN 43620. Bbl has “P” & “H” inspector marks parallel to the bore with a large “N” on the right side of the lug. SN 255087. CONDITION: Good to very good, slide retains 75-80% thin blue-brown, strong and bright in the sheltered areas. The frame retains about 60% bright blue with gray-brown front strap and spring housing. The slide retains 85-90% original blue mixed with dark patina. The frame retains 50-60% good original blue mixed with patina and rust pitting on the thumb safety. *COLT RAF MODEL 1911 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 455 Eley. Standard RAF issue 1911 with 5” bbl, marked on the skirt with the caliber and various proofs. It has full diamond checkered walnut grips with an original type, two-tone, lanyard loop magazine with the caliber marking on the base and a Canadian broad arrow. The left side of the receiver and slide has crossed flag proof marks and the frame has a Canadian broad arrow. SN W54286. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains virtually all of an extremely fine professionally restored finish; so good, that it almost appears original. The magazine is also a restored finish, with a small wrinkle near the base. Believed to be a 1st model with large frame, 6” ribbed bbl, fixed sights with “Birmingham” marking and with the Webley & Scott flying bullet trademark on the left side of the frame along with the caliber. The left side of bbl and right side of the frame are stamped in tiny letters “J.J.Palmer’s Son”. It has 2-pc checkered hard rubber grips and a lanyard ring in the butt. It also has a thumb safety on the left side. SN 2992. CONDITION: Fine, retains about 75-80% original blue with the balance a blue-gray patina with scattered light pitting. CONDITION: Poor, with heavy crusty rust and deep pitting on the iron parts. Left grip has a large chip missing above the finger groove, the right has several chips and gouges. U.S. NAVY DECK OFFICER’S TELESCOPE. Ten power scope marked “US Navy/BU Ships” and dated “1942”. Overall 23” long with leather-covered body and black-enameled ends. CONDITION: Appears to be fine. Also included in this lot are two original spare magazines for Smith & Wesson light rifle along with bbl wrenches. CONDITION: Canvas case, wire stock and magazines are very fine. *TAYLOR FUR GETTER TRAP GUN. Cal. 22. Mostly brass construction with steel pins and a steel hook with a large wood screw attached to a pintle on the bottom. The left side is marked “Taylor Fur Getter/F.C. Taylor Fur Co. St. Louis, MO.” and the right side marked “Pat’ June 2, 1914/Other Pats Pending”. This device was designed for and used by trappers to kill fur-bearing animals in abstentia. A piece of bait was attached to the hook in front of the muzzle, bbl was loaded and cocked and screwed into a log, tree or fence post and when the animal tugged on the bait, the weapon discharged, killing the animal. NSN CONDITION: Complete and original. Retains 75-80% of its original bright finish with the balance a mellow dark patina. there are vice marks on the side of bbl. the bore is bright and shiny. 4-49340 (600-900)

WWII JAPANESE BATTLE FLAG. Framed flag 29” wide by 25-1/2” high with a large red circle on white background. The white background is almost completely covered with Japanese writing. In the upper left corner is an English notation dated “Feb 24th 1944”. The notation reads “This Japanese battle flag is presented by Col. C.L. Fix commanding the 65th Regt. 22nd Division to Col. Carleton Smith Chief liaison officer of the Div. commemorating the capture of TARO and YAWNPANG GA by 65th Regt.” CONDITION: Soiled and faded with a hole in the meatball with scattered rusty brown stains that may be blood. JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD. 26-5/8” blade. Plain modern mounts. Fine irregular loop temper line. Spring release hilt is fastened by one brass screw and one mekugi under a lacquered braid wrapping. The scabbard, fuchi and kashira are decorated with light spattered black lacquer. Plan oval tsuba. CONDITION: 4” area of light surface 6” from the tip, otherwise only minor spotting. JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD. 26-1/8” blade with no signature. The temper line is irregular, the tsuba and other mounts are not matching. The fuchi and kashira are brass and decorated with koi. The menuki appear to be blossoms, possibly lotus. The scabbard is a replacement and does not quite fit the blade. CONDITION: The blade is generally clean, but has several small nicks in the edge, a rust spot 3” ahead of the tang, and one slight delamination. 4-49113 FS132 (1,000-2,000)

SHIN GUNTO JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD. 26-1/4” machine made blade with straight temper line. Five Kanji characters on right side of tang, seven on the left and two on top. Military mounts. WWII JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD. Issue sword with 27-1/2” slightly curved blade, wide fuller with serial number and flat tsuba. The handle is cast alloy painted brown with integral menuki. No temper line is visible. It is accompanied by a green-painted iron scabbard and belt with sword hangar. The bottom fitting has three proof marks; one is of four intertwining circles. SN 85618. AMES 1842 PATTERN CALVARY SABER. Standard saber with 35-1/2” curved blade dated “1849” with inspector marks and “U.S.” on the right ricasso. CONDITION: Excellent plus, the metal retains most of its original blue on bbl and case colors on the receiver under a coating of old dried oil. Wood is sound and has an applied coat of old finish with some minor scratches on the belly of the stock. Standard rifle with 23-3/4” oct bbl, fixed sights with homemade front blade, nickeled iron receiver with straight stock and nickeled crescent buttplate. It has nickeled pistol grip trigger guard. SN 22236. CONDITION: About good. Bbl, which is cut to present length, retains traces of original blue in sheltered areas with the balance a light patina. Receiver retains 75-80% bright nickel with the balance flaked to patina. The stock is sound and retains most an old refinish. Appears to be the Bicycle model with 22” oct to round bbl, blade front sight, and fixed rear sight with a knurled ring at the breech end in front of the receiver. It has slab-sawn walnut with semi schnable forearm and straight stock with Stevens logo hard rubber buttplate. SN 78. CONDITION: Fair to good, retains most of a cold blue finish on bbl, the receiver is gray metal color and the wood is sound retaining most an old refinish. *MARLIN MODEL 336 RC LEVER-ACTION CARBINE. Cal. 30-30. Late Marlin carbine with 20” bbl, full magazine and pistol grip stock with beavertail forearm. The receiver and bbl are Oriental engraved with coarse foliate patterns and has a raised inlaid silver mule deer on the left side and a whitetail deer on the right side. The stock and forearm are carved with a large, running white tail buck on the right side of the buttstock with carved bone antlers. The wrist and forearm are relief carved in foliate patterns with a serrated background. The bottom of the forearm is inlaid with large silver initials “DD”. SN J53398. CONDITION: Very fine. LIFELIKE DOLL OF HITLER. This old figural doll appears to be an artist’s creation, rather than a manufactured piece. The head is sculpted plaster, hand painted. The hands and the body are stuffed cloth and the costume appears to be all hand made. Believed to have been done during Hitler’s life, but unmarked and unsigned. SIZE: 32” tall.
