SHARPS MODEL 1853 SPORTING RIFLE. Cal .44. 25-3/4” oct bbl. Standard markings on bbl, receiver and lockplate. Bbl sights has been replaced but their origin has not been determined. The left side of the receiver has a plugged hole. SN 20981. CONDITION: Mostly rust brown patina with small areas of casehardening silvering on the action and hammer. Wood has minor dents, scratches and oil stains but is still solid. 4-49932 FS39 (2,000-3,000)
