COLT PATERSON MODEL 1839 CARBINE. SN 500 on all parts except wedge, SN 494. Cal. .54 smooth bore, 24-3/8” 16-sided to round bbl. Marked “Patent Arms M’g. Co. Paterson, N.J.-Colt’s Pt.” with star and sine wave at each end on the left side of the bbl. The cylinder does not have the rolled marking and is possibly an expert replacement. This also has the later rotating mechanism with the ratchet on the rear of the cylinder rather than on the rotating ring attached to the arbor. CONDITION: The bbl has a thin brown finish. The frame, trigger guard and upper tang are blue. The lower frame has about half of the faded case hardening colors on it. The cylinder is also blued. The stock is missing tiny chips at the action but retains about 90% of the varnish. Sling swivels have been installed, the bottom of the stock and the front of the bbl lug. Mechanically excellent. 4-46506 (15,000-20,000)
