B.T. (British, First half of 19th Century) TWO FROG ILLUSTRATIONS. Watercolor and pencil illustrations as follows: 1) Shows a colored frog with sword tipping his purple hat to a rat resting on a cane. The graphite backdrop has large house on hill with post with arrows “To Mousehall” and “To Frogmoor”. A caption underneath reads “Off he set with his opera hat and on the road he met with a rat”. Signed B. T. 1833. 2) Shows the frog with purple hat being chased by a woman frog with red cape and two walking sticks. The backdrop is a marshy area with hill beyond. Caption reads “A frog he would a wooing go whether his mother would let him, or no”. Signed B.T. 1833. Both identically housed in pierce carved gesso decorated gilt frames.
