MARTIALLY MARKED WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 MUSKET.

MARTIALLY MARKED WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 MUSKET. Cal. 30-40. Standard musket with 28” round bbl, pedestal front sight, 1800 yard ladder rear sight, very nicely grained buttstock and full length forearm with smooth steel buttplate with trap. The front receiver ring has a large “U.S.” with small KSM inspector’s initials on the various parts. It has a split front band with bayonet lug and stacking swivel plus three sling swivels. SN 1602. CONDITION: Bbl retains a mottled blue gray patina with light surface rust and one spot of deeper rust. The receiver, magazine box, lever, and buttplate have been browned. The magazine box has deep pitting on the right side. Wood appears to be new, original replacements retaining virtually all its original fine oil finish. Strong bright bore, dark in the grooves. 4-49647 JR157 (1,250-1,750)
