VERY EARLY WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 FLAT SIDE LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 40-72. Standard grade rifle with 26” tapered round bbl, replacement Lyman front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. It has straight grained wood with black tipped schnable forearm and straight stock with crescent steel buttplate. SN 602. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 70-75% dull original blue mixed with light chemical spotting. The receiver retains about 80% thin bright blue mixed with light surface etching. The magazine box retains about 80% blue turning brown around the edges. The upper and lower tangs retain about 95% blue and the hammer about 90% dull case colors. The buttplate is mostly silvered case colors. Wood is sound and retains about 60% bright original varnish overall. The bore has strong deep rifling, moderately pitted in the grooves. 4-50030 JR199 (2,500-3,500)
