C. SCHICHTLING CARLSEN (Danish, 1852-1903) THE VISITOR. Oil on canvas colorful scene shows a man with blue coat and yellow pack basket and umbrella standing in front of a stone stairway leading to a large house or tavern. A woman is atop stairs and appears to be carrying on a conversation. The buildings continue alongside a dirt road having a man with pull cart and boy walking. Another house is at end of lane with white mountain peaks scene behind trees. Signed lower right “S. Carlsen”. The back stretchers have four labels, one by a restorer in 1953. The others indicating artist. Housed in a fine modern decorated molded wood wide frame. SIZE: 23-1/2” x 34”. CONDITION: Some inpainting, very good. 9-26779 (3,000-4,000)
