GEORGE BENJAMIN LUKS (American, 1867-1933) FISHING IN NOVA SCOTIA. Colorful pastel scene shows a fisherman standing knee deep in water with fly rod in hand and line in water. He stands over a small cascading river with pool at his feet. Above him is a winding river lined with trees. Signed lower left. Housed in a fine gilt period carved wood frame with double matte. Accompanying the pastel is a copy of a typed letter hand signed by Mercedes Luks and dated Sept. 14, 1964 indicating that this is by the hand of her late husband and recalling that George and some of his friends went up to Nova Scotia to paint and talk to the local fisherman to use as a subject matter.
