WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 SPECIAL ORDER LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). Second Model rifle with special order 26” round bbl, half-nickel front sight and early semi-buckhorn rear sight with checkered edges and has been filed flat on top. The receiver has the screwed on dust cover rail. It has straight grain walnut wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with trap. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this rifle with shipping date of November 3, 1888 with three other arms to order #22715. SN 56917. CONDITION: Good. Bbl and magazine tube retain and even, smooth dark brown patina. The receiver, with 15-20% bright blue in sheltered areas, is mostly even brown patina. Wood is sound with moderate to sever battering on the forearm and retains a fine hand-rubbed patina. Strong bore with sharp rifling and moderate pitting. 4-49482 JR193 (1,250-1,750)
