WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 44 WCF. Third model carbine with 20” round bbl, full magazine, pedestal, pinched front sight, and 1873 marked carbine ladder sight. Left side of the receiver has a staple and ring. Wood is uncheckered with straight stock and carbine buttplate with trap. SN 266723. CONDITION: Fine to very fine, bbl retains 80-85% dull original blue turning plum with some areas of light pinpoint rust. The magazine tube retains about 90% strong original blue with two or three spots of fine rust pitting. The receiver retains 70-75% original blue, flaking to brown patina strong in the sheltered areas. The left sideplate is mostly brown. The loading gate retains 75-80% original niter blue. The lever retains 15-20% dark case colors and the hammer 75% dark colors. Wood is sound and retains most of an old refinish with some dark oil staining at the buttplate and usual handling and use marks. Good crisp mechanics with bright shiny bore with scattered light pitting. 4-49164 JR58 (5,000-7,000)
