MASSACHUSETTS CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY BOWFRONT CHEST OF DRAWERS. Circa 1780. The rectangular top with crossbanded edges and bowfront above the conforming case of four long cockbeaded graduated drawers on a molded base with scalloped, shell-carved center drop pendant and raised on ogee bracket base with conforming scallop returns terminating in bold ball and claw feet. SIZE: 34″ h. x 39″ case w. x 41-3/4″ overall w. x 22-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Retains an early clean surface with minor repairs to crossbanding and cosmetic repairs to drawer dividers fitted with an incomplete set of antique, but not original, brass hardware. Feet and drop pendant appear original. A very nice example in need of some professional restoration. 9-90881 (1,000-1,400)
