KRAG MODEL 1896 MILITARY RIFLE.

KRAG MODEL 1896 MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-40. Standard rifle with 30” bbl, standard sights with brass muzzle cover in a 1-pc walnut stock with hand guard. It has stacking swivel and sling swivels with a smooth steel buttplate with trap containing a three piece jointed wiping rod and original nickeled oiler. The left side of the stock has a crisp cartouche dated 1898. SN 61932. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and receiver retain about 95% strong bright original blue with scattered pinpoints of very fine surface rust. The sideplate and cartridge box retain about 95% mottled case colors. The extractor about 90% niter blue. Wood is sound and retains most of its fine oil finish with light handling and use marks. Bright shiny bore, lightly frosted in the grooves. 4-49593 JR138 (800-1,200)
