THREE DECORATED EARLY POWDER HORNS. 1) 13″ l having scrimshaw decoration, inscribed “I. Frye” having statement as follows: “Frietrich Walrathimiar 1779”. Decorated with small pictures of flowers and geometric shapes, a large flowering tree. Wood plug at end. 2) 11-1/2″ engraved horn dated “1771” having flower, fish, swan, star, bird on tree and tall building. Turned dark wood end. There is a scratched name above the date which is illegible. 23) 9″ engraved horn signed “Nathaniel Hall 1759” having a berry decorated vine, geometric shapes and fish. A custom stand accompanies the lot. CONDITION: 1) Very good. 2) Some holes, crack and missing horn at top edge. 3) Section above fish is worn with no patina. 9-90826 (1,500-2,500)
