TWO AUTOGRAPH BOOKS. First book having a letter handwritten and signed by Thomas A. Edison. Letter is address to John Royle & Sons and dated October 25, 1887. It requests a machine that can put a soft insulation on bare and covered wire. Edison asks if this company has one that would do what he asks and if so, he would need a considerable number of them. Signed “Yours Thos A Edison”. Letter is on blue lined paper. Other names not limited to but including GW Whittaker; JS Galloway; Booker T. Washington; Alfred Campbell; N. B. Smith and more. Second book titled “Companion Autographs” which was printed with famous signatures included and the idea was to put your friends and collected autographs around them. Autographs collected are late 19th Century and appear to be friends and neighbors. SIZE: CONDITION: Edison letter is stuck to one of the pages with separation at fold line; Companion Autograph book has broken binding, otherwise good. 9-91554 (1,000-1,500)
