COLT MODEL 1878 DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal.12 ga. Field grade double with 27-5/8” damascus bbls choked CYL/IMP-CYL, case colored receiver and lockplates with very nicely figured wood. The splinter forearm has black schnable tip and checkered semi pistol grip stock 14-3/8” over a rampant Colt, black, hard rubber buttplate. SN 4565. CONDITION: Very fine, bbls cut to current length retain 95-98% strong bright Damascus pattern. The receiver retains 75% case hardening with faded colors in the sheltered areas and the balance turned silver. The right lockplate retains about 95% bright case colors and the left about 50% faded case colors. Wood is sound and retains most of its fine oil finish.
