RHODE ISLAND OR CONNECTICUT CHIPPENDALE MAPLE TWO-DRAWER BLANKET CHEST. Circa 1870. Rectangular lid with molded edge opening to a well with two simulated drawer fronts. Rectangular case dovetailed and fitted with two thumb-molded drawers. Raised on a molded base with shaped bracket feet and shaped drop pendant. Secondary wood being chestnut. SIZE: 43″ h x 38″ w x 17-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: Found in a southern Connecticut home. CONDITION: Overall in very good condition with original rattail and ring hinges; hardware 20th Century replacements. Piece was stripped and re polished 20th Century, base and feet appear original as do the backboards and drawer bottoms. 9-91379 (1,500-3,000)
