FINE PAINTING ON IVORY OF GIRLS PLAYING TABLETOP GAME IN BALEEN AND IVORY INLAID FRAME. 4” round painting shows older girl with hat and pink and white dress seated across from two younger girls, one wearing blue dress and blue hat. They all sir around a one-drawer table, which has three boards and game pieces. The drawer is open with a blue sash, pearl and gold cross hanging out. A picture is seen on the wall. A wonderful period frame with engraved baleen matte housed within a decorated ivory inlaid wood frame. On the top of the back paper is written “Peter Charles Chaplin”. A fine early miniature in a well executed crafted frame. SIZE: Frame is 5-1/2” x 5-1/2”. CONDITION: Miniature is very good. Frame has some damage. 9-95364 (1,500-2,000)
