NEW HAMPSHIRE FEDERAL CARVED MAPLE TALL CASE CLOCK, JAMES C. COLE (1724-1815), ROCHESTER, N.H. The arched molded crest surmounted by pierced fret work centering three brass ball finials above an astragal glazed door flanked by reeded columns with brass capitals opening to the enameled metal dial marked: “Jas. C. Cole, Rochester” within an Arabic and roman numeral chapter ring with calendar aperture and seconds dial; the whole within painted filigreed spandrels. The brass works with time and strike movement above the waisted case fitted with a rectangular door and applied molding flanked by reeded quarter columns with brass capitals and bases on a molded box base raised on spool turned feet. SIZE: 86″ h x 14″ throat w x 10-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine southern Maine home. CONDITION: With original old, cleaned surface, no evident repairs or restorations.
