UNSIGNED (19th Century) SHIP PORTRAIT OF THE “ANGLO-SAXON”. Watercolor scene shows the three-mast American frigate sailing right to left under full sail. American flag flies off back sail and other flags fly off masts. Bluish/green light wavy ocean with land beyond. Twelve figures aboard. Bottom with a white on black legend “American Frigate Anglo-Saxon 1100 Tons Built in 1849 N.W. Cramer, Comr”. Back having in pen “NR. 495”. Housed in a replacement wood frame with block corners. SIZE: 18-1/4” x 24-3/4”. CONDITION: Examined out of frame. Unmounted. Some light fold creases, foxing. Generally good. 9-72426 (1,500-2,500)
