FOREHAND AND WADSWORTH SINGLE SHOT FALLING BLOCK SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 44RF Henry. Deluxe sporting rifle with 25-3/4” oct bbl, gold washed Beech’s front sight and two position flip rear sight with sliding aperture on the long blade. It has an Allens patent tang sight with rotating aperture disc graduated from 100 to 1600 yds. It has highly figured crotch cut walnut stock and forearm, uncheckered with straight grip and crescent steel buttplate with trap containing an action key. Bbl has a band just above the forearm with sling loop and a corresponding swivel loop in the buttstock. NSN CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains 96-97% strong bright original blue. The receiver retains 40-50% faded case colors with the balance turned to silver mixed with brown patina. The breechblock contains most of its original case colors somewhat faded. The buttplate, with its faceted tang, retains 15-20% good case colors with the balance a silver brown patina. The stock has a raised chip in the back of the top tang and a grain check on the left side, otherwise the wood is sound and retains a beautiful dark oil finish.
