ORIGINAL TIN TARGET SHOT BY AD TOPPERWEIN. Ad Topperwein and his wife traveled the country in the early to mid part of the 20th century performing shooting exhibitions on behalf of ammunition companies. Part of his performance sometimes included shooting the silhouette of a subject on a tin sheet such as this Indian chief with head dress. Letter on the reverse from Leroy Merz, noted Winchester firearms dealer from Fergus Falls, Minnesota, indicates that as of 1994, this tin target had been in his personal collection for a number of years and that it had originally come from a small hardware store in Crosby, Minnesota where it had been on display since 1941, since Ad Topperwein shot the target. SIZE: 16” x 24”. CONDITION: Overall oxidation on the front with various rust spots from natural evolving patina, otherwise, very good. 4-50065 (2,800-3,800)
