WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 TAKEDOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38-55. Standard grade antique rifle with 26” round bbl, full magazine, half-nickel front sight, semi buckhorn rear sight, nicely figured, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Accompanied by Cody Museum yellow sheet. SN 46547. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain about 95% original blue with 3 or 4 dings about midpoint and a tiny spot of surface discoloration. The receiver retains 96-97% original blue, strong and bright on the sides, slightly thinned on the top and bottom. The floorplate retains about 60% blue. The lever retains 25-30% case colors with the balance turned silver and the hammer about 98% dark colors. The buttplate retains about 30% faded case colors with the balance turned silver. Wood is sound and retains most of a thin coat of applied finish, not sanded. Strong bright bore with moderate pitting. 4-49989 JR187 (3,250-3,750)
