* RARE WINCHESTER SPECIAL ORDER DELUXE MODEL 1894 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 32 special. Fine deluxe rifle with 26” oct bbl, brass bead Lyman front sight and 1901 smokeless rear sight, and is fitted with close-couple dbl-set triggers. It has beautifully figured wood with H styled checkered forearm and checkered straight-grip stock, 12-7/8” over a smooth steel carbine style buttplate. Factory records on file at the Cody Firearms Museum, Buffalo Bill Historical Center, Cody, WY indicate this rifle was shipped March 21, 1906 in this exact configuration, but does not mention the buttplate. Removing the buttplate discloses age patination commensurate with the age of this rifle with numerous tool marks unlike factory work. SN 274648. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 90-92% thinning original blue. The magazine tube retains about 95% dull original blue, the receiver has about 60% blue with the top and bottom mostly silver with a spot of touch-up on the left side. The lever retains about 10% case colors and the hammer about 90%. Wood is sound and retains generous amounts of its original oil finish.
